Growitnow, being prepared is good ... but try not to overdo the pessimism there! I posted a question myself today about damping-off ... I discovered white fuzz on the surface of the flats just as the first seedlings are beginning to emerge. Like you, I expected the worst, even though I'd read that while there are lots of fungi out there, there are only 4-6 that cause damping off. I've increased soil temp, light and air circulation (removed clear dome covers), made sure there's no standing water in the base trays, misted lightly with chamomile tea, which some say has antimicrobial properties, and am keeping fingers crossed. It's good to know the hydrogen peroxide is an option if it's needed. Best of luck to you! Diane

No, this is the only one. It hasn't produced any fruit yet so I can't compare them to the pictures I've seen. Do you know how this virus is transfered. Was there any way to prevent it? Should I pull this to avoid more contamination?

Unless you're running a restaurant, I don't see that program (cycle) length would be an issue. Even if you have to run the machine after every meal, you've got more than 2 hours between meals. You might have to alter your habit as to when you start the machine, but a 2+ hour program time shouldn't be an issue. If you find that you're in an occasional rush, you can always run the short wash or china & crystal program which run in roughly half as much time as the normal wash program. Those programs wash at a slightly lower wash temperature (meaning that they might not be as thorough on heavily soiled pans or baked on grime) but for most washing chores these programs will still deliver good results. I honestly don't think you'll find another brand that's quieter, more efficient, and as long-lived as the Miele dishwashers. I've been using their dishwashers for more than 25 years (both in Europe and here in the U.S.). I don't think there's another brand that compares. I'd never consider a dishwasher from another manufacturer. In all years I've been a Miele customer, I've never needed a repair, and I get superior wash results -- load after load after load.

Hi reader - how nice; they sound like lovely people who genuinely enjoy your company. I wouldn't feel that you have to thank them with something every time. That gets uncomfortable for you and for them. Imagine - they might think that they should stop inviting you because you get them something each time - and they know you're on a limited budget, etc. Every gesture doesn't have to be repaid. Your friendship is a nice thing for them; let them enjoy that without the burden of a reciprocal gift each time (the burden would be on you and on them). This isn't the same, but has a similar feeling. I visit a friend in another state about twice a year. Each time, I take her something as a hostess gift. Also, while I've been there, on occasion I will buy something for her that she admires (not something big at all). But the "problem" is that every time I visit, absolutely everything that I've ever given her is out and readily visible. It makes me feel like she intentionally puts things out so that I know she likes them. Now, that makes me uncomfortable and I hate to think that she feels she has to do it. So - I mentioned it to her. I just told her that she really shouldn't feel that she has to have those things out; like anything and anybody, we go through stages of having things away and then out, and I don't give her things so that she has to display them all the time (or at all!). She thanked me. My point is, don't spoil your new friends' enjoyment of being with you by making it uncomfortable by feeling you have to reciprocate with a gift. Send them a card now and then for no reason (such as not after a particular meal out) - just to say hello and have a nice day. Little random things like that are far better than a one-for-one "repayment". Congratulations on being the type of person that others want to spend time with!
