1903 Home: Replacement or New Construction Windows?

Ok...so my wife and are looking to restore the outside of our house. I peeled back the vinyl siding and the old cedar has been ripped out so we will need to reside the house with either cedar or hardieshingles.

We are located in NJ and we need to add insulation to the outside of the house b/c we have old urea formaldehyde in the walls that has shrunk and we can't rip out the interior walls to replace with R30. It's just not an option. So im thinking of putting isopoly foam board insulation (R12) on the outside of the house under the cedar or hardie

So here is the deal... we want to keep the original interior molding and want to know if we can use new construction windows since we are doing all the work on the outside or do we need to use replacement windows to save the interior molding?

What would be better?
