PlastPro vs. Therma Tru fiberglass patio doors?
Comments (0)I need to replace an exterior french door that is exposed to the elements. It seems like everyone in this area (Central Florida) recommends and sells PlastPro. I am also considering Therma Tru Smooth Star or Fiber Classic fiberglass. Does anyone have personal experience with either product? I would love advice from the experts, as well....See MoreIs PlasPro or any other fiberglass door comparable to ThermaTru?
Comments (32)Well...it's my first time on this forum. My husband and I went through their warranties words by words and noticed something : "However, all bare or unprotected wood surfaces (such as door frames) on all steel and fiberglass Products (note: including any bare or unprotected wood surfaces used or exposed by builders, contractors, dealers or distributors on or in conjunction with the Products) should be primed and painted or stained and top coated within the lesser of 2 weeks of installation or exposure to weather." So does it mean that we need to paint over the hinge location? who paint the hinge area before installing the hinges? NO ONE does that. Anyway, we end up with PlastPro door and we are very happy with it. Plus, their door doesn't have the ugly screw hole around the glass like the old door....See MorePrice Quotes for: Inline vs. Marvin Infinity vs Marvin Integrity
Comments (10)Thanks, windowsonwashington. And to the novice, I've done some further digging and I now feel dumb about the amount I was about to pay for windows. I did not realize the mark-up until I priced the Ultimate and Integrity product without the installation (Do this first if you can before you invite anyone into your house. I did not). On average, I was being charged $1700 per window for window and install of the Marvins (Integrity, Infinity and Clad) and about $1,050 per Inline window installed. This seems a lot given that only a few were full frame replacement. Worse, only one of the six quote did a decent job explaining the installation process. A word of advise to folks window shopping, be discipline, methodical, analytical and do not treat the process as something to get done immediately (though I understand why you would feel this way). If you do, you likely will be taken advantage of. Do yourself a favor and give yourself the time to work through the process. Also, there's lot of misinformation out there about the superiority and inferiority of one product vis a vis another. Caveat emptor certainly applies for a purchase this costly. Another thing, read the warranty before you sign. By doing this, I was able to rule out the Infinity product, much as I liked the aesthetic of the casement. I'm sure there's more to come....See MoreSoftlight vs marvin ultrex patio slider
