Steve - from your link, I found this page which has to be just about the most informative webpage I think anyone has ever created regarding growing tomatoes. I searched high and low for something like this the past couple of years and came up emptyhanded. Very good stuff! If all else fails, I have another four of each variety tomato that've sprouted down in the basement as of ~10 days ago, so no huge loss...but I really wanted to definitively know what caused this so I could prevent in the future. Sounds like the MooNure alone (for repotting) was a poor idea from the getgo. May've made one or two other mistakes along the way as well. Thanks y'all. If anyone else has any commentary or thoughts, please do share. Three years later and I'm still a newb at this.

Someone at work today saw me carrying empty milk jugs and asked me when I will start winter sowing. I told them on the solstice and explained about sowing seeds for each of the four values: Mother Nature, Life, Remembrance and (leap of) Faith. I also explained I would be dancing nekkid while I winter sow and got a grinning look of doubt so I said, "Dancing nekkid--inside my clothes." That got a laugh. My milk jugs are prepped, there's a bale of Fafard professional growers mix in the kitchen, labels are printed and all my tools are ready to go. In an effort to save my aching back, I set up some boards over the tops of large square containers & plastic patio tables so my jugs will be up off the breezeway concrete this time and I won't have to bend over too far to peer inside looking for sprouts. That about did me in last year. As soon as the clock strikes midnight on December 20, I'll be ready to hit the deck running!

Well, the ones I have left keep me busy covering and uncovering. I put some 'maters out last week and the winds whipped them to pieces before I could get something to protect them. At least I had a few left in my mini greenhouse. We usually get colder than the surrounding areas here, but no frost this morning, but predicted again for tonight, so cover up again. Donna

Actually we here in Southern Michigan may start warming up within the next couple of weeks. We were forecast to have a warmer than normal winter, and all that we've had for the last few weeks are temps below normal, like January temps, some days haven't got above freezing. Temps have been running with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and 20s. if we are to average out to be warmer than normal, then we gotta start warming up eventually. Or is it just wishful thinking?
