children's turquoise bedroom
Comments (8)Boysnus 2 .. Thanks. The green is a little harder, it's a custom color I mixed up to try to salvage two oops colors I picked. I can tell you the colors I used to achieve it. The first color I picked out was BM Pear Green, which was almost about neon in that small space. Next I picked out SW Shagreen, which was too grayed down to look okay against the clear turquoise color. So I started mixing colors, I used the pear green, mixed it with a liberal amount of decorators white I had hanging around, then added a small 'blop' ( technical term, I know *LOL*) of Shagreen to the mix to tone it down a bit. I just mixed it back and fourth, color splotched, mixed some more, color splotched .. etc .. until I had a basic color I was happy with. Once I had the color right I mixed up the whole gallon so I had extra hanging around to do touch ups with. Here's a pic when I was color splotching, I just kept messing the color values until I was happy :...See MoreIs there a grownup way to add pink to a master bedroom?
Comments (16)I've added pink to our bedroom but it's subtle enough not to be girly. The first thing I'd do is find a lightweight quilt with pink in it to fold at the end of the bed and work from there. It's amazing what one folded blanket with color can do for a whole room when it's on the end of a bed to match accessories with. Any pink can be sophisticated depending on how much you use of certain shades. The good thing is all shades of pink goes well together so you don't have to be limited on one shade. You could go a bit funky like me and get a pink Princess telephone for your side of the bed. I also have a deep pink Moon Clock. :)...See MoreChildrens room, Is this bedding 'to busy'?
Comments (16)LOVE it! Lots of stimulation there for the young mind. Also, you have a lot of choices for sheet and pillow colors. I would pick one of the colors from the bedding and do an accent wall. And put in a big mirror at her level--very helpful for someone learning how to dress herself... and essential for dress-up time! Her taste is going to change as she grows, so how about getting a few poster frames (the lightweight college student kind--I think an adult frame with glass would be too dangerous in a child's room) and having her pick out some posters? You can turn this into a fun way to learn about color. There are all kinds of sources you could look at--here are some of my thoughts: * Vintage Disney * Etsy --oooh, I found one that's PERFECT. Check out the link! * Movies --if she picks Disney princesses, that's OK, it's her room * IKEA OTOH, if you ask her, you might be surprised at what she comes up with. Looking forward to pictures! Here is a link that might be useful: Etsy alphabet poster...See MoreReview: The Secret Life of the Grown-Up Brain
