Oh My Gosh! I can't beleive how fast time goes. I just received my unity candle from the knotshop.com and can't stop looking at it. Our wedding is almost 100% planned, now we are getting down to the technical things like seating charts, which attendants will walk with who and rehersal dinner. Things are coming together nicely. I was reading a really funny book, if you guys are thinking that you are overboard with wedding planning I recommend you read it, its also great for a few laughs, its called Bride in Overdrive by Jorie Mark. It was really funny.

Anyways, just wanted to check in, how are youguy's planning going?

Im so excited for you!!! I cant imagine 60 days and counting yet. We have a August wedding planned so I have a bit more time to put things off. We ordered the cake and met with our officiant last week. The hall,caterer,dj,and horse and buggy are all ready to go as well. Our biggest hurdle is making an oath ring. My fiance and I are having a traditional Viking Era wedding ceremony and an oath ring was used for the bride and groom to hold at the same time as they spoke the vows. Poor David has to figure out how to make one that looks 1/2 way decent. Congrats on your wedding...I'll definetly check out the book you recommended:)Jessica

WDay-8. everything is falling into place. i think i will actually be able to afford everything. please tell me it is not that big of a deal if fiancee keeps adding the odd person or two to rehearsal dinner or wedding guest list.

Not as bad as it sounds terpguy. This has been overall the easiest winter with a very warm December. First time no added heat for December. I have a small green house with roll down isinglass panels. During the winter A flap on each end stays open until colder weather rolls in. Then the remaining 2 flaps go down. I keep blooming plants on display in the patio area. Many of those are moved either in the house or green house. If there are additional fronts on the map my orchids could on rare occasion stay flap down as long as a week. But usually it is for a day or 2. And typically after a 1 or 2 day flap down there could be 1 to 3 weeks of flaps up. My most work with the orchids is Dec through February. Usually December is more work than the rest of the winter. So I'll probably over 3 winter months while winterized I'll have about 6 events like that. March most winters is no extra work. So now I think I'm home free. Flaps go up and stay up. Until next December. I guess and hope. Then there are orchids in the landscape on the trees. They fend for themselves. Also I have 2 very big pots of a terete vanda. They have amazed me. They are very tolerant of cold weather. Thought they would die.

I can't wait till spring!!! Hopefully I will have a job by then, crossing my fingers, and I will have plenty of plants to keep me busy on the weekends!! That is if I get weekends off, heck I was so desperate for a job I told them I would work any shift and any hours, LOL. I have a feeling I may be on thirds, oh well we gotta do what we gotta do!! Cross your fingers everyone that I get the job, that means I may be able to move, eventually!!

I bought a Toro electric Blower/vacuum with a Metal impeller (about $70 on sale at Home Depot) that I've enjoyed using by laying it down on the ground and raking the leaves into it. I first tried wearing it and walking around the back yard searching out the leaves, then raking them up into windrows. But that got heavy and old really quick. My vacuum them up from the ground technique works for both loose leaves and bagged leaves. The vacuum puts the shredded leaves into a zipper bag with a nice shoulder strap handy to carry them wherever I need them. Then unzip and dump them out. They claim a 12/1 reduction in volume. Not sure I believe that. I suppose you could shred them twice if you really want them shredded fine. Jim

Well, I guess I'm thankful I didn't explode all over my kitchen after that insane dinner I ate about an hour ago. I cooked most of it--Southern fried chicken, gravy, all the Thanksgiving trimmings, lots of whipped cream...yadda, yadda etc. I had so much chicken cut up I couldn't cook it all in this century. So I contemplated aloud that I should just throw the raw stuff out. Overhearing me, my teen granddaughter admonished me about wasting perfectly good food (first world problem for sure). So I asked her if she'd like to have it raw cause I wasn't cooking anymore darn chicken. Anyway, I am most thankful for my precious granddaughters who light up my life (along with my roses). Diane

Just wanted to pass along a handy tip we learned from my daughter's wedding last weekend. We did the seating chart on our home pc in the fonts we wanted with the set-up we designed. Then we sent it to kinko's via their internet site (paid by cc) and they printed our seating chart for less than 5.00! All we had to do was stop in and pick it up. It was bigger than what we could print at home. It was on really nice brochure paper, and they also did one for us on cardstock. We popped that baby in a frame and it looked very elegant.

rowl: You're right -- it's NOT a big deal. Ask any wedding planner, or anyone who's had even one such event: there are ALWAYS additions and drop-offs (illness, etc.) at the last minute. It's to be expected, so don't sweat it.
Everything will be fine, I promise. You're at the home stretch now, you've done all the work -- like having pulled a sled up a big hill -- now just enjoy the ride from here on in! Have fun and congratulations!
