Do you have glass over your wood kitchen table?
Comments (8)I used to have a wood table and had a piece of glass cut to fit. It was care free and best of all, when I used my expensive table clothes underneath they stayed clean and stain free. Even with 3 kids! I replaced my table with a gorgeous inch thick glass on cast stone pedestal. It looks smudgy most of the time, but beautiful right after it's windexed which must be done several times a day. So I keep a table cloth,(which gets dirty easily since it's on top of the glass) on it and now you can't see how lovely it is.......... loved the glass on wood treatment!...See MoreAlmost ready to order table-does this go together?
Comments (17)Thank you everybody for your opinions! I really like "talking" these things through with lots of people. Why is this so difficult? So, this is what we decided to do. We just moved into a new house, and we need several pieces of furniture. We need a dining room table more than chairs bc my DH accidentally threw out the leaves to our table during the move (long story) and the current table size configuration doesn't really accommodate our large family very well. We have chairs, although they are beat up bc they weren't the best to begin with and have taken over a decade of abuse, and they are functional. So, we decided that our priority should be the table. So, I think we're going to go ahead and buy the above trestle/pedestal table and wait on the chairs (unless you all can talk me out of it!). Although I love the chairs, chairs are the big expense in a dining set, and we can wait on those since we have chairs, and we can think about whether they'd match the table once we get the table (we wanted to go bold and get the chairs in red). Anyway, we figure that it would be best to spend those funds on getting furniture we don't even have for rooms, instead of replacing furniture we have. Plus, with 4 young boys, those chairs would take so much abuse; so, may be it's worth waiting a little bit until they are older and won't be so messy (does that ever happen?). Thank you for talking me through this. It's hard to resist the temptation to go out and get everything at once and furnish the house in one swoop. Do you all still like the table or is the table by itself a mistake? Thanks!...See MoreHelp, my colors are all off and I don't want to start over.
Comments (55)Nosoccermom, I try to shop family-owned and local whenever possible. The table was purchased at a local New England furniture store called Circle Furniture. The table is 100 yr reclaimed chestnut from Vermont. I believe the manufacturer produces furniture and taps maple trees for syrup. Fun, huh? Here is the link. We went with painted black apron and legs: http://www.circlefurniture.com/products/dining/dining-tables/recalimed-dining...See MoreAny end table suggestions to go with my coffee table?
Comments (4)Don't try to match but rather go eclectic. You could go metal frame with wood top https://www.wayfair.ca/-Sand-Springs-End-Table-TADN2383-L442-K~TADN2383.html?refid=GX114558935590-TADN2383&device=c&ptid=155002788503&network=g&targetid=aud-404117501957:pla-155002788503&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlIvSwdee2gIVAWl-Ch3cBwsUEAQYBSABEgJAEvD_BwE...See Moremitchdesj
