what's the best bang for the buck on a water filtration system?
Comments (8)Take a look at the Franke Little Butler system, model DW-100 cost $200.00 - $250.00 comes with a small filtration system, Model LB-1000 which is instant hot water dispenser which would cost about $300.00 - $400.00 or LB-2000 which is Filtered water and Instant hot water dispensing out of the same spout cost $400.00 - $500.00 for a complete set. Filters last 6 to 12 months I guess depending on how often you use it and the quality of the water going into the filter, filter cost about $75.00 to replace. We have had great response so far, looks like the filtration system reduces Chlorine, Lead and other heavy Metals, bacteria, protozoan cysts, reduces sub-micron asbestos fibers also reduces foul taste and odors but leaves essential minerals intact. If there is a room issue you can even consider getting a faucet with a 3rd control knob which would dispense filtered water only when you need it this way you donÂt use up the filter each time you run water to wash dishes . You can view these items at kbauthority com for more information. Good luck! Comments (5)There is a lot to be said here but I will restrain myself. For only charcoal filtration, any faucet should work. Use a charcoal filter that is standard size (guessing without moving my keister to measure that standard means 3 inches in diameter by about 10 inches long.) Pressure drop should be modest until depleted so flow would be high. With R.O. water, one needs a pressure tank and at least 3/8 poly tubing to use with a standard faucet. One may also need other active components to keep the pressure up. My R.O. system feeds a Brizo Venuto, a Brizo pot filler, a plant wand, a refrigerator ice maker, and eventually a bar sink faucet. However, I have a peristaltic brine-driven pump from Spectrapure, and two pressure tanks. With R.O. filtration, it is possible in some cases for the resulting water to become soft and acidic, and this can leach lead where present. For such cases, a lead free faucet is needed. My R.O. input is municipal water that has been dosed at the source with alkali chemicals, and pH measurements show that it is still alkaline after R.O. filtration. kas...See MoreWhat's the best under sink water filter system?
Comments (8)Pluckymama, thanks so much for asking about my niece. She is doing really well. She recovered quite quickly, IMO from her heart surgery and then last week she went in for, what we hope is the last, a surgery to replace the NG tube (the feeding tube through the nose) with a G tube which is in her side. It will make feeding much easier. She's home from the hospital and doing pretty good. Thanks again for thinking about her. Mary...See MoreIssue when changing filter in water filtration system
Comments (10)I started this thread 2 years ago about whole house water filters. The water filter has been acting fine, except... The first thing the manual says to do, before unscrewing the cannister, is to press the red pressure-release button to release pressure. When pushed, a little air/water should should out of the button/vale for about 1 second. Then, unscrewing the cannister is fairly simple. If I don't release the pressure, it is impossible to get eh cannister off. The last 3 times I changed the filter, this "red button" has stopped working well. At first, I pushed it and the water/air flew right out. Now, I have to push it on/off for about 15 minutes to get it to release the air/water. I try pushing it straight on, at an angle, pushing it quickly, ... it seems to be random as to how long I have to do this before I can get it to work. I inspected the button from the outside, to see if any dirt had collected - couldn't see anything. I followed the assembly instructions (I didn't install the filter) to dis-assemble everything that can be dis-assembled, to see if I could clean out the back of the valve; however, the problem is that the back of the red button is inside a molded plastic plastic part that you can't get to. Has anyone had similar problems - that is, trouble releasing water/air pressure, before removing cannister? thanks...See Morekaysd
