Trash To Treasure

Well - these lamps are junk ....

I bought a pair of these lamps at a rummage sale. The lady said "Oh yeah -- they WORK" ... I just took her word for it and you guessed it -- they "work" if you know how to rewire them ! AAARRRGGGHHH !!!!! (I also have to screw on the top side lamp) All is not lost - I'm sure I can "recycle " them into SOMETHING !!!! They are each about 6 and a half feet tall ... any suggestions ?

Toomuchglass, I am sorry, I don't have a suggestion for you as to how to recycle that floor lamp, but I just wanted to tell you I LOVE your TV trays. Did you find those at the same sale? I love the shabby chic look (what I call "grandma-ware", LOL). Totally awesome! Great find!

rewiring is not hard...they sell kits at the hardware store

Love it all Jeanne, I went on conversations & tried to log-in since they said I was off, it keeps coming up that there is no GJF Ha! Sorry to hijack your post but I will be gone for awhile. Mom in hospital 9 days with AF & trying to care for dad(stroke 1 yr ago) at home. Bro. had to fly to East Coast for business. Other bro. came in sick-so it goes .I'm on my own except for DD some & lady taking care of dad some mornings(& snooping through the house!!) Janet..thanks for sharing your gardens. I hope you can take some of your beautiful iris, hostas, columbines, etc. with you on your move. Yes, junk "evolves"...thank goodness! It will be a new challenge for you all...starting over! And your creations will be wonderful! I live near New Hartford where so many people lost everything with the tornado and then the floods this summer... 240 homes out of 270...many that NEVER flooded before. We are in the country so personal property not affected by the floods. We are helping "re-build" our town again. School will be opening on schedule Aug. 18th. So many volunteers still coming in! AWESOME! I've rattled on...but I am so glad you shared with this post...a story of more "survivors!" Thanks again for sharing. Jeanne S.

I will definitely have to remember this. I love natural things. Right now my living room lamps are like this (I added the Rustic Garden Projects to keep it garden junk related lol). I bought this lamp on eBay. I waited about 2 weeks and never got it. So I contacted the seller. He was as perplexed as I was. He felt so bad, he made me another plainer lamp and sent that to me. I felt awful because I really loved this lamp. Lo and behold, a week or so later it arrived! It seems that the courier delivered it to the wrong address and the honest inhabitants returned it. Thank goodness! I love rocks just as much as wood so I'd love to use your idea!

Those TV trays were from an earlier rummage sale ... reminds me of the ones we had when I was a kid! I'm thinking of Tall plant stands with a couple little birdie houses on the side - hopefully I can find a long trailing plant !
