Tyler fragrance, laundry products, candles

I just wanted to share that I love their candles, love their laundry products and my favorite is Chateau.

I don't work for them nor do I have any relationship to them, regardless of the name, but for those of you who have bought differs that were less than desirable, theirs are great.

I cannot spell; that was supposed to be diffusers. Eyes and hands not coordinating lately.

Interesting site. Scented laundry sounds lovely.

What's up with fragrance manufacturers and those names? If I am looking for a lavender scent, do I have to click through 40 names of fragrances like Icon and Ira Jean and High Maintenance and hope to stumble on it?

@ livebetter... I HATE patchouli too, and it is (luckily) very faint. Bergamot and ylang ylang is more dominant, but they too are very mild. The detergent smells good, but I think (for me) Clorox Green Works, Persil Color gel and Method Fresh Air or Peony Blossom smell fresher and cleaner! I bought this new Vanilla and Geranium today (Whole Foods has it). I am not disappointed, but I am not having a "wow" moment like I did when I first tried Vaska on sheets & towels or when I used Green Works for the first time. I will use it up, I will not waste it/throw it away...but I do not see myself buying it again (but we'll see after a month of use). Good luck finding it and getting your Vaska! -Larsi

Sorry to burst the bubble of the natural beeswax candle fans: Take it from a beekeeper, virtually all the beeswax on the market today is contaminated with agricultural pesticide residues. And that's just the US beeswax. Stuff imported from Asia is really problematic. It comes either from pesticides put in the hive by beekeepers to try to suppress varroa mites and diseases or from agricultural pesticides that the bees themselves bring in when they bring in pollen and dust from their foraging. Beeswax straight from a hive has lots of stuff in it. Most of the non-wax solids, coccoons, dead bee parts, etc. is removed when it is rendered. (What's left after the cleaned beeswax is separated out is called "slumgum" - a great Scrabble word!) But many of these pesticide chemicals are lipophyllic, meaning that they enter - and stay - in the beeswax, permanently. They are not removed by the melting, straining and bleaching that takes the hive product and makes it into beeswax cakes. It's a big issue these days in the beekeeping world, because beekeepers recycle cleaned wax as base layers for new honey comb, year after year. It is now being learned that over time the chemicals are building up in the wax, and are believed to be causing some of the problems affecting bees right now. Forgive my ignorance for not reading this thread (not my read) and seeing previous comments if anyone stated this before, but if you do enjoy candles try soy candles. Regular wax burning candles (Yankee being one of them) leek potential hazardous fumes and chemicals that can be carcinogenic (no sourced article here but there are several sourced medical journals with this study). I would stay from candles all together and use artificial ones for that glow, or mood lights, aromatherapy oils are fine too. Soy candles if you really want candles. Keep the wick short no matter the brand, dont let it burn for more than a couple hours at most, immediately cover the candle with the topper or a plate after done using it. It exhausts the fire, preventing any stains on walls. And keep it in the middle of the room you're using it in.

No one said that scent is not important - it is very important, and it is especially important that the scents we want to enjoy are not obliterated by scents that we do not want. I was unable to detect the scents in food that I liked because they were being masked by the scent of the hand soap. Scents can also warn us of danger as much as they can delight us. I remember being constantly nauseated by the barnyard smells when I was growing up, and I would not wear shoes in the house that I had worn in the barn - I had to have galoshes to protect my shoes whenever I would go there. I saw one show on TV about human development, and it said that brothers find the scent of their sisters repulsive (and vice versa) thus helping to prevent interbreeding. Therefore scents are very personal, and what one person finds attractive, another person will find repulsive. For this reason, it is important to respect boundaries with regard to scents and not invade someone's space with unwanted fragrances. For me, the hand soap was a very unwanted fragrance. There are as many repulsive smells as there are pleasant ones. Smells also trigger the most intense memories, and olfactory memories have been shown to be some of the strongest. I've noticed this when I smell freshly cut grass.

LOL. Graywings, I don't recall which one has the lavender scent. I can ask if I go into town today. I buy the laundry stuff to do my pillow cases and underwear. I love their candles and diffusers. Most candles trigger my asthma but these do not.

Ahhhh, I wondered if this was the same "Tyler" as Tyler, Tx...where we shop, work, eat out and (almost live). And I see that yes it is :) Was just there yesterday.
patricia43, I haven't shopped for candles in a long time, who in Tyler sells them now? Seems like the Hallmarks store that used to be in the French Quarter (was was it Green Acres) carried this line....Lee Wright! I usually stock up on candles from First Monday. Does the Potpourri House carry Tyler Co Candles?

I also have no interest in the company but many stores in the Austin (TX) area carry their candles and I can second Patricia's recommendation. I love good candles and these really do have a lot of scent and last a long time (and the wicks don't drown in their own melted stuff as some I've tried, etc.) I get the big ones in the jars with lid...seem pricey but really do last a very long time. I like Patricia's favorite but my personal fave is Hippie Chick (yeah, it smells like it sounds....like the old days.) LOL
