What would you do with all the junk jewelry in the world?
Comments (52)On our Christmas posts someone had great jeweled cone trees. 1 pastel other 1 Victorian looking. Can't remember what it was under but they were all pinned on so could be reused. With damaged jewelry you could take a "jewel" off of 1 item & put on another to fill in hole & then spray the whole thing, no one would know! Yes, I agree that all the jewelry needs sorting, clear plastic shoe boxes or even regular shoeobxes marked on end or ziploc bags & put it all in large box, mark top of bag with items inside- so they are "filed" in the box. Whole earrings with stones or rhinestones all in a box that way you see if you have enough of something to work out your design. It's been about a year so hope you have made something up. If not organize it so it isn't so out of control. I've gotten small stashes & even that is a mess if not sorted out. Hope yoou post pics soon. Jan...See Morechandeliers and other costume jewelry
Comments (5)they're on the five year plan at Saks Fifth (a friend gets their 'trendevous' newsletter, and I peek) so they're not going anywhere... though the big thing for spring seems to be layered strands of beads- Bev, you might as well drag out those over the top pieces, and pair them up with an ultra- simple white blouse with a nice collar, that's certainly the look that they're passing around on fifth ave :)! everything from grandmom's 'opera' strands of crystal, to great grandmom's flapper beads- in most cases, all at once, so they look like a little girl dressing up as 'Mr T' ;) so anything we can do will look understated by comparision!...See MoreEnglish costume jewelry ID assistance?
Comments (6)I think they're one step up from costume jewelry perhaps. Not a really big step. I'd like to identify the manufacturer whose mark is B.A.Ld (with the "d" riding high). It's 9 kt gold--something I've never realized was used. I can try to get a picture if you think it'd help, but I don't think I could get a clear shot of the mark....See MoreLooking for old Costume Jewelry
Comments (3)Donna, The Goodwill down here often has costume jewelry by the bag for cheap. Not sure what you are using it for, but some of the antique stores down on San Marco Ave. here in St. Augustine have some interesting pieces, too. Too expensive for crafting, but definitely nice stuff. I like the Christmas tree plaques made with old costume jewelry. I have thought about making one with angel pins. Not an inexpensive project, but I think it would be nice. Here is a link that might be useful: Costume Jewelry Christmas Tree Plaque...See More- 19 years ago
