Ruth, sorry for the late reply - I've been out building a new rose bed! Mike B. (from here on Gardenweb) cut down a few trees in the back (some dead dogwoods, a small pine, and a nut tree that had the misfortune of being INSIDE the fence ), cleared out some wayward shrubs, and established a nice sun area for me. I moved a massive beautyberry after admitting that it WAS in the wrong place . Anyway, most of my little roses were literally strangled by my crinums, but I love my Folksinger and Sunbonnet Sue. I love the color on Winter Sunset, and it seems to be thriving. The dogs have broken off Distant Drums, which I also love, and I seem to have lost my Enchanted Autumn :(, but managed to move the others over to the new bed (and I am forgetting one or two of them). I had to buy El Catala - it's red with a silvery-white back - don't know how it will perform but it was outstanding, and at $5 for a 2-gallon I was thrilled. I am spending more on the organic amendments going in the holes... My lesson learned is that 1-gallon roses won't stand up to crinums out here in east Texas.

We learned years ago to go at least as far as St. Thomas to be sure of being warm. Friends often went to the Bahamas over Christmas vacation -- and have the pictures of themselves pale-faced and bundled up prove it. (Don't know why they kept doing it! LOL) Once we tried Disney World in December. The rose bushes were dying of the cold. No fun to be where buildings are only equipped to keep you cool, not warm.

Glad you got it out! You did the right thing by going to Urgent Care. Many years ago when we lived in LA, I had a wonderful small room off the landing. It had multiple storage closets and a built in counter. It was a perfect sewing room! I used my husband's rug from bachelor days - a Marimekko shag rug in various greens and blues. I told my husband and my children to NOT come in that room barefoot as it was a SEWING ROOM and there is no way on earth to not drop the occasional pin on the floor. With this shag rug, it was difficult to see any that were dropped. Well, of course my husband paid no attention and came in there to ask me something and stepped on a pin. He sat down and pulled it out and that was it...or so he thought. Over the next few days, his foot got more and more sore. He soaked it in hot water and epsom salts. No better. It was now hurting a LOT. So, a week or so later, he finally went to our orthopedist as he was sure he had broken something in his foot. The doctor x-rayed the foot, came back in, numbed the area, and proceeded to remove PART of the pin DH had stepped on. The doctor then said it was obvious that my husband was a math teacher and not a physics teacher, or he would have looked at what he pulled out and realized that the pin had broken and part of it was still in his foot! No, he still went barefoot even where I sewed...

Cancellation is not actually completed yet, as it involves contacting a number of different folks, but I'm working on it. I looked at canceling the Airbnb reservation yesterday, but it appears that a $132 service fee is still going to be withheld if we cancel (although the rest of the sizeable deposit will be refunded). I need to look further into this, as I think ALL funds should be returned to me. If they insist on retaining the fee, I may just rebook the accommodation for a much later date this year or for the spring of 2021 and let them continue to hold the deposit. I'd rather just have it all returned to me though, so I can regroup and not be 'bound' by anything at the moment. Our AA tickets were booked with AAdvantage awards, and it looks like we can't make any changes to those reservations online but must CALL instead. I dread that; I have a feeling I'll be on hold FOREVER, so I'm putting that off as long as possible. We weren't scheduled to fly out until April 30.
