This is not an original piece.

I bought it about 10 years ago up north.

The small amount of contrasting color was a non-descript blue/gray, which, at the time, went well in our country style home up north.

Yesterday, I got a bug and decided to re-do the accent color more to my liking...and more beach-style.

I left the distressed white portions alone.

It sort of blends in with the walls and carpet now, but we will be removing the carpet, installing bamboo or teak flooring, and painting the walls.

The color looks a bit brighter in these photos than it really is, but still...I love the way it turned out.

Very nice! I also like the items you arranged on top of it. To be honest, when I first saw the pic I had to reread your post because I thought this might have just been a magazine inspiration picture!-- the whole look is really sharp.

That looks nice and is almost like th genuine antique one that my mom passed down to me and I adore mine.

Yes, I even have some frozen blues my dad did many years ago. There is only one gallon bag of them left and they get maide into a blueberry cake. I make a muffin batter, add a LOT of frozen blues and the end result is just enough batter to hold all the berries together. They are still tasty even after bring frozen for many years. Hardly the same as fresh, but still usable. My last batch was blueberry preserves and I also added some dried blues that tend to hold up better to cooking. With acidic blues, I don't seem to get that 'off' taste that Splenda may offer. If the berries are bland, I usually add a bit of acid blend to them to punch up the taste. I do use Clear Jel as I don't like runny fillings in pies. Bulk Foods offer some FANTASTIC sugar free turtles, pecans, caramel, and chocolate, all sugar free. Also several other sugar free items.

Thanks! I was pretty sure that was the case, but I wanted confirmation from a trusted source. My pears are an old homestead variety, Pineapple Pear. They ripen in late June, early July.

You have 24 hours to reprocess if necessary and the guidelines recommend you let the seals set for at least 12 hours undisturbed before checking or messing with them. So I'd recommend leaving them alone until tomorrow and then check the seals and wipe the jars. If the seals are still good and strong tomorrow they will be fine for storage. If not you can reprocess them then. If necessary to do that then empty all the jars back into a pot to reheat, wash the jars, use new lids and do not pack the jars quite so full this time to avoid boil-over. Dave

Thank you. I don't have any basis for comparison for flavor and consistency. I only remember what I made last year was just delicious. I think it might actually have been the pickyourown recipe, although I cannot remember using 6 cups of honey, which seems a lot. I would be happy to the try the nchfp recipe, but I would not know how to swap out that sugar for the honey and whether any other juice should be added, as suggested in the pickyourown recipe.

Wow, I certainly am impressed with a piece. It looks so beautiful and I too love the way you decorated it. The caribbean blue is an excellent choice and the starfish just makes it all perfect.

Love your pie safe! That first picture looks straight off the cover of Country Home magazine! I'd love to have one, but they're waaay out of my price range. Maybe I'll find one on the curb one day...yeah right!
