Does anyone have any neat ideas for making a DVD or CD storage unit? We have DVD's everywhere.

I saw on HGTV where they took a set of the small indoor window type shutters, re-screwed them so they formed a box, added a bottom and had a CD storage cabinet. I think it was acutally on the show called Trash to Treasure. It even had a knob on it already as they used the knob used to hook the shutters closed. Alice

It was on the Trash to Treasure portion of the Dollar Sense on HGTV. Easy to find on the site. Go to the alpha listing of shows and then dollar sense or do a search of the site.

CDs are used for storage but executable files can be ran from them - all you programs are loaded via the CD/DVD. Yes, all files burned to CD become read only and if you copy any back to your hard drive you will need to change the name if you intend to modify the file. I know nothing about re-writable CDs but I would suggest you erase everything when wiping it. Do not apologise for asking seemingly basic questions, asking is learning.

I use a Sharpie also. But if my wife wants something a little fancier I use my Memorex labels. These come with 120 labels for each of the CD, the front of the plastic jackets and the spline. I only use the round one to stick on the disk. You would also need a thumper, a specail little tool so you get the label in the right place first time. Normally about $20 a pack but I have found them in Big Lots for $10 on occasions.
