With my thumbdrive, I just plug it into the USB port on the computer and a box shows on the desktop where I click on open. Immediately the file opens and I can simply drag and drop music, photos, etc. I want in this file just like a floppy. It is fully active to be used until I unplug the drive. I can also plug this thumbdrive into my boombox and play the music if I want. These files can be directly burned on a CD either when the thumbdrive is full or when I want to do it.

ok you are trying to burn to cd and or dvd and using roxio but what exactly is happening? you need to let us know what is going on what symptoms what is it doing or not doing. Have you tried another burning program other than nero? there are some very good free ones available that may work for you better than nero. I would try using another program and maybe you can get the hang of it better than nero or at least know if it is just nero that is not working on your pc, if other programs won't work also then you would have to look to your actual burner itself. Personally when I want to burn my pics to cd I just open my pictures folder hilight the ones I want to transfer right click on those hilighted ones and select my cd burner from the list to send them to. Have you tried doing that or even just dragging them and dropping them from where they are on to your cd drive letter? What exactly have you tried and not tried.

I have lots of them, I use them all the time. You can put files or pics or what ever you want on them from your computer to save or to transfer from one place to another, I use them to move certain files from one of my computers to another. I also have one I carry that has all my portable apps on it so if I go somewhere and need to use a pc, I just stick my flash drive in and I have my firefox on it set up just like I want it, and lots of other applications even antivirus programs are made for portable use. They are some what fragile so you have to take care of them, I have a nice padded wallet made just for them I bought to keep them together and protected. as to your question about burning pictures to cd for her to view on her player there are a lot of variables there, if you use the right type of cd if she has a player that will play that type of cd if her player will play picture files, in some cases yes it can work.

You need to start over. And are you sure you bought a CD-RW and not just a CD-R? Also, you can only re-write a CD so many times before it becomes corrupt. The files you originally wrote to CD are protected and probably "read only", also check what preferences you have checked on the Nikon and ScanDisk card (for what it's worth, I have two Nikon D80 and a couple ScanDisk cards-not to mention at least 4 other digital cameras and enough SD/flash cards to flll a landfill-dating back close to 10 years). Your only choice is to download them to your desktop (or someplace easily remembered for a minute) and rewrite the CD without any read/write restrictions, which can be found in properties. Also, are you deleting the files on your camera and SD card when you download to CD or your computer? If not, you have probably run out of space. Another thing, that Nikon "Picture Project" software, if you are using that, is a pain and not worth installing. It could be contributing to your problems. What program "thinks" it's your default photo editing program? That could also be causing problems. You say you are using Olympus software but a Nikon camera, did you load the Nikon software too? All these camera manufacturers have their own proprietary software (and websites), you don't need it or want it. It's better to go out and buy a copy of photoshop than have a bunch of proprietary photo editing programs on your computer, unless you know how to over-ride them, including Windows Picture and Fax program.
