happy - definitely don't need MORE room in this bathroom - trying to figure out a better plan with a smaller vanity. I prefer a vanity over a pedestal - need room to store stuff, that's for sure. sweeby, what are ceiling breaks?? Never heard that term before. I'm sure if I go to the library I'll find books that probably have a layout of this kind in it for ideas, but would love to find someone who's dealt with this before and what they've done. You've given some great ideas to look in to. The half wall, between the toilet and the vanity is definitely an option I'll consider. Possibly a door between the toilet/shower and the vanity may be good too. Oh, that floor, it's linoleum, or something like it - coming up in areas - very ugly!!!! ashleysf, as I mentioned above, I think your idea of a door would be good. I don't think a pocket door would go, but when I go tomorrow to look at the house again I'll definitely see if it's an option - I would think a regular door could easily go there, but honestly, I can't remember for sure. I'd like to end the vanity where the 2nd outlet is on that wall (see pic) I think that's long enough. In my current guest bathroom I have a tall floor to almost ceiling cabinet where I store towels and other bathroom related items. It could be a consideration instead of using the existing closet and possibly do something else with that closet area, as I did with my master bathroom linen closet - it's all shelving with decorative stuff on it (when it's clean that is, otherwise, it seems to have become a catch-all!) Any other ideas, as always, are always appreciated and taken in to consideration.

We definitely need a plan with dimensions. My first thought is to put the fridge & freezer on opposite ends of that back wall with the range centered between them. You'll want a pot filler, but it shouldn't be a problem as there's already water there for the fridge. Put the microwave and warming drawer in the island, and leave the sink where it is. This way you don't need to move any walls, or mess with the floors if you don't want to. And I would definitely remove that crazy soffit over the island! :-)

Maybe get a personalized pen holder? This one below can have the Nurses name and title added for a dollar more on the ceramic tile. Then get some unusual pens for it. If you Google you find fish pens and frog pens and every imaginable type. I always keep oddball pens for customers to use. That way they don't steal it. When I confront them they find it hard to tell a lie and say it was their pen although some still do try that. The thing to do is not to get an oddball pen that is too nice or you actually get even MORE of them stolen. I had pens like these thinking they 'wouldn't walk away' but they all got stolen. Thanks for the ideas. One of the problems is that they live in a rural area and meals on wheels isn't available to them. The home health people are coming on Monday and I thinking that I am going to go over when they are there to make sure that they get all the bases covered. My mil is the kind of person that is always the first to help others but never asks for help herself. I am going to call one of the church members that lives closest and see if they can get a group together to take meals over every other day or so. My FIL is the problem and thinks everything needs to be a hot dinner. Me I could make a pasta salad and we could eat it all week long with sandwiches or grilling out. But that wouldn't be enough for them. So will have to do some thinking. Also FIL's son ( MIL and FIL married when in their 50's ) lives in town and hasn't worked for months and has been taking money from mil and fil and part of me feels that he needs to step up and help. But I want to do what I can to help. With 3 kids under 4 and one more on the way, I have enough on my plate to deal with but will muddle through. I think the most important thing is to be there when home health comes and to make sure that we cover all the bases, physical therepy for both of them, bathing, cleaning, and cooking.
