Now I have the plywood To make my Susan well nigh good But what should I do About the choice of the hue So -R can see that he could? Well, the camera's battery is getting charged, and despite a high of a freezing temperature today, I'm thinking construction operations should commence. However, I need to ask your opinion - what should I do about preserving the wood? 1) Stain 2) Paint 3) Nothing - it's 3/4" plywood and might promote that 'Aloe Ranch' look which is, of course, casual yet elegant. There are two squares, one 12" and one 14" (the base), and the model of bearings set I'm using is the 9C / 9" circular model (see link), capable of holding up to 750 lbs., which is about what one of those Thailand Adeniums weighs. Your opinion not only counts, it speaks five languages! Here is a link that might be useful: My Wife Thinks This Hardware is Misnamed

Mary, I'm very happy with my 11" cuprinox style fry pan. But like you, I've spent time reading all the cookware articles. If there is one pan in your arsenal that you want to be thick and heavy, it would be the frying pan, (at least for some cooking). I think the Demeyere Atlantis skillet would be a great choice because it is lighter,(than copper or iron) but still thick and would never warp at high heat-thanks to the stainless. Good cookware will sometimes make up for a less than perfect heat source. I have a powerful gas range with nice big star shaped burners, so I don't really need the thickest pan. But if you were to sear a steak with a weak burner, you would like a nice thick pan to hold more heat - once you preheat it. Otherwise, the meat would 'suck' the heat out of the thiner pan, before the burner could catch up and supply enough heat to get it hot again. I remember you saying you weren't sure on what you were cooking with, but wanted a good fry pan that's not too heavy. I think the Demeyere would be a good choice, I don't own it but I've seen the fry pan and it looks good.- should be easy to clean and is induction capable. I like the inside silvernox finish as well. Price is tough to swallow, but I saw one on sale that was the floor sample at a Sur La Table store...- so if you look long enough? What do I think about the All Clad copper core stuff? It is bomb proof, and I'm really impressed with it. It's not induction capable, and it's not particularly light (because of the copper). Total thickness at the edge, even with all those plies is not very thick. My guess is that the Demeyere Atlantis would do better as a fry pan, even without the copper, because the aluminum is so thick, - while remaining fairly light. Sure copper heats a little faster.. but the race isn't always won by the fastest and fry pans are one item that thickness and therefore heat capacity is just as important.

I got my Breville today! Very prompt shipping, especially with Labour Day yesterday!! I was in the midst of processing my cucumbers, onions and peppers when I got the delivery. I tried to buy cucumbers on Sat and not a cuke was to be found in 3 stores. Grrrrrr. They were advertised in the flyer, so I went today hoping that a shipment came in. There they were. I wanted to get my relish started, and not knowing for sure that I would get my "new kitchen toy" I borrowed my old processor from a friend and went to work. Not to worry, I'll be trying the Breville out soon and give a report. Everything feels quite nice and sturdy and well made.

Amy, That was a great resolution! I guess my four kids never lost anything special that I can remember, so I never had to face that dilemma, thank goodness. It was kind of cute and funny that my DS, the youngest, and only boy, was extremely attached to several dolls when he was little. The first was a hand puppet he called baby, made with a nylon stocking face that resembled Cabbage Patch dolls. The next was a big doll one of the DD's friends bought him. The doll looked just like Chuckie from the horror movies, but DS loved his Buddy-eye. The next was one of those anatomically correct newborn baby boy dolls (his sisters each got a newborn girl, even though the older 2 were 15 and older, they wanted one). He named his newborn Wilbur and used to take him to school to play with on the playground. The other boys would tease him, but he told them if little girls could bring dolls to play with to learn to be better mommies, he could bring his to learn to be a better daddy. Even at that tender age, he knew his dad was not a good parent. His dad's family went totally beserk and ballistic. By allowing the dolls, I was turning my little boy into a "fag"! How horrible of a mother! DS is now 22, and definitely not a fag. And if he was, I would learn to embrace that, too. He's my son most importantly.
