I stopped at an out of the way sale and everything was half price. Got a chair with a broken cane seat to put flowers in. The chair is curvy and different than any chair I've seen. 3.50. Also a 24 x 30 framed cross stitch on some kind of linen dated 1863. The work is beautiful and the frame is so heavy, just a few nicks in the frame. I think I may have found something cause the name of the woman is on it and I'm going to research it today. 9.00 What do I seal this chair with to protect it in the garden?

I've been making wooden stuff for outside use - and I bought spray lacquer. Stinky - but it puts a good coat on !

Thompson's Water Seal works best for me. I use it on any wood or metal "Objet de Art" that I put in the yard!!!!!!!

Wow! You really found alot of treasures indeed. I love your container gardens. Do you drill holes in the bottom? Curious, I have some hens and chicks in an oblong pan, didn't drill holes b/c at the time didn't have access to a drill. You mentioned separating them now before spring. If I do that, they'll grow more? I'm rather new at this. Was at Wally world last week and you should have seen the succulants they were selling for only $2.50 ea. Maybe that's expensive, I don't know. I've never seen so many different varieties. I must have stood there for 1/2 hr. until the hubs started getting impatient! We were there for groceries, not plants. LOL Also, do you bring them in during the winter months? I know they say they can withstand frost/snow etc. Just wondering what works best. Thank you! Again, great finds! I'm a garage sale junkie, but boy, this summer has been killer hot. Kind of takes the fun out of having fun! :o)

OMGosh, Jeanne, you really hit a jackpot....I think you just gave Candy a run for her Bargain Queen title. LOL. At least for one round. So MANY wonderful things that I hardly know where to start. But the big Santa in the first photo really is fabulous. I'd have gladly paid a LOT more for him. The little Elf reading the book is just darling, and perfect for you. But all the elves are cute and the little fairy girl too. I'm so glad Dollbaby now has her very own cloche. You'll have to find her some miniatures to put in it. I have to applaud your restraint, coming home with only two boxes. I shudder to think of the load I'd have bought, and no place to put any of it. The only restraint I have is to NOT GO shopping in the first place. LOL. You did good, Girl. And should be grinning all week over it. hugs, Karen

This is the first I've been to this year. It wasn't even advertised, except by word of mouth and signs. One had this in it. Maccaroni & Cheese Pizza 1 box Kraft Mac & Cheese pizza sauce pizza toppings shredded cheese Prepare mac & cheese as per box directions. Spread in bottom of 9 x 13 pan. Top with sauce. Add toppings and cheese. Bake. I typed the recipe from memory, so don' know if the pan is greased or not, or what temp for how long. I'll look if anyone is interested! The church is no longer in existance, as the bishop has been closing a lot of churches in our county in the past few years, including ours. Even though it isn't in my town, it is/was nearby. It is a treasure for that reason alone. I don't exactly enjoy cooking, but I love reading cook books. I buy a lot of them! Tami

Marine varnish is probably the best for outside.Think about it,it's used on boats and boats are in the water all the time,and look how well it holds up.

I don't want to tear this apart cause you can tell it's been profeesionally framed but it looks like linen or something like that. It's very large for a hand worked piece. Maybe it's worth something.

First it is called a Sampler. Second WOW! great find and what a bargain.
OH yes Jess, have the sampler appraised or get pics on a forum for antiques and needlework and ask for best/amature(sp) estimates. I'm sure there is a few places to ask here on THS. I saw one not to long ago on Antique Road Show valued at $3,500.00. An early signed piece from 1863. Old, slight fading and the frame was HEAVY, dirty, had a few medium nicks and just plain undecored wood.
