Rhome, you've got a wonderful kitchen, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it once you get used to all that space. I'm probably going to going through some growing pains with my kitchen. Right now I can reach everything without moving, LOL. cotehele thanks for checking out my layout! Similar to how your using your Kitchenet, I will be using the hoosier as my baking supply area. And with it right by the ovens, it'll be handy. Good point about my girls keeping away from the stove to bake and having a lower area available. And yes, if we go with the sink by the window I won't be putting in the prep sink. DH really likes not putting that in because we won't have to cut the beautiful marble and floor and the plumbing will be simplier. With the test run of baking pies, I found out that the island is a very nice size. Big enough to spread out, but not too big that it becomes an obstacle to walk around. My mom has a 36"x36" island and to me it's too small. Well, I tried out the smaller doorway by moving chairs around to give the correct clearances and it's too ackward. I think the problem is you have to go around the island to get into the kitchen. I've got my laptop setup in the dining room until I get an office (who knows when THAT will happen, LOL) and a couple times I've clipped my hip on the island. However having the french doors centered on the wall rather than off to the side does look better from the dining room. As far as cooking dinner goes, typically I get the "meat" from the freezer pop it in the microwave to defrost then gather all the ingredients that I need in one spot. I try to clean and put things away as I go. The little one helps with the salad and the big one helps on the stove. DH sometimes pitches in if there is room. Then both DD's set the table. Clean up usually goes, everyone brings their plate back into the kitchen then only the little DD sticks around to help cleanup. They're still little so we always have leftovers.

Instead of moving the window, why not add another? That's what I did for Plan D, along with a few other tweaks. It's a blend of your Plan A and my Plan A, and a little bit of your Plan B. Yes, it's lower than a wall oven but it's higher than an oven in a range and it's one way to gain more counter and that sounded like it was more of a priority for you than oven height. Next to the oven is a 36" range. Not sure if these two appliances can be installed side by side or if you'll need to add a 6" pull-out cab between them. If so, that would be a great place to store spices. Between the range and the must-stay wall are two 26" wide drawer cabs. I evenly divided the space. You should determine cab widths based on your needs. The fridge is on the other side of the must-stay wall. There aren't any cabs opening into this aisle so a 39" aisle should be fine. The MW drawer is still across from the fridge. Not sure how you use your MW but if it's to reheat left-overs and such, this placement makes sense. I think there's enough room to have fridge doors and MW drawer open without hitting each other but if that's not the case and it's a concern, put the MW drawer in the range wall run next to the must-stay wall. I show an apron front sink in a 30" sink cab, gaining you a bit more cab and counter in the island. DW is where I showed it in my Plan A. Since the range has shifted towards the pantry (and back to being centered on the can light), these two appliances are no longer across from each other. You could still switch sink and DW placement but that will leave you with only 16.5" of counter next to the sink. I shifted the island 2" towards the DR, easing the pinch point you were concerned about by the fridge. This obviously reduces the aisle between island and DR wall but since you plan on enlarging the DR opening, this won't be an issue, IMO. Plus there are only 3 seats at the island, not 4, to avoid pinch points between island and DR wall. Additionally, you could probably increase the counter overhang an inch or two more, or even three inches, depending on how wide the new DR opening will be. The island is all one level, btw. tlbean, your goal while a plant is rooting is to reduce the surface area of evapotranspiration. It is always recommended to eliminate some of the leaves and to cut larger leaves in half. Many novices make the cuttings too long, as well. That makes it hard on a plant. Next time, eliminate the rooting in water step and root your cuttings directly in the potting medium.

HouseVixen I love some of the rooms! but they're rooms that are currently not in this house..since with such level of attention to decor, I'd presume other rooms correlate to one in question..there's probably some inner rhythm to everything. You start in one room-you don't finish there. you can't sell a dream. at least not a dream that's worth having lol. you can show yours-or somebody else's as you interpret it. I say-in this case, leave interpretation to others. This room is good enough to not try and wrigle it into something completely else. The curtains will be open anyway-no real estate photographer will leave them shut when shooting. No real estate agent will let them be shut when buyers come. Same with blinds. Not because somebody might dislike curtains but because a) photographer needs more light when shooting interiors and b) it's considered-rightfully so-the buyers should easily see the windows themselves, and what can be seen from them.
