Nancy, I got a good laugh out of that! Snookums, I too searched Houzz and was amazed by the results. I know I've never seen them in a home. I can barely imagine, though I am sure there are some, what application would be better served by partial doors than a full door. I agree that full length doors would be preferable. The person considering them for her bath, might have to have them custom made, but she could probably put a set of full length swinging doors there. Cafe doors would provide as much privacy as we all get in public restrooms right? So, they would solve at least half of the privacy issue. The person can't install a pocket door, barn door, etc. She could do bi-folds but I think I'd prefer the full length swinging doors for this application.

Yes you can use two 15" doors. The trick is to find 15" doors. I'm currently looking for two 16" doors for a similar aplication. Very little selection. Most are not made smaller than 24". Bifold doors can be made into cafe doors, but they are only 1" thick.

The closet plan needs to be drawn accurately to be able to see that the door should open inward. Hanging clothes require 24" of depth instead of the approx. 18" shown in the posted diagram. Clothes rods that turn corners create dead storage. The clear space in the middle should be at least 3 ft wide. If the hanging storage on the left side wall (as you enter) was shown as 24", then the storage on the right side would need to be no deeper than 12" to allow a 3 ft open space. But even with that configuration the storage immediately to the left as you enter would need to be removed to allow enough width for comfortable entering and to allow access to the storage in the corner. Using an in-swing door might reduce the shelving length by a foot but IMO that is not enough storage to justify opening the door out into the bathroom where it would be in the way. As for whether the door swings to the right or left, you should avoid putting a door knob in a corner especially when there is an obsticle on the adjacent wall. Which way did it get built? There is really only one good way to swing this door and fortunately the contractor realized it in time to correct the designer's mistake.

This happened to us when DH nailed the baseboard on the wall between the laundry and kitchen. The door came off track. When we renovate I will replace or remove. However, this was builder grade. On our extension I added three pocket doors. The one I had put in for the powder room is a solid core door, not thinner than most doors, as I wanted as much sound-dampening as possible with such a device. We used Johnson Hardware - not the home depot variety which runs $ 40 or so, but commercial grade. Look at the Johnson site under 1500 Commercial Grade and you will also find non-standard size frames (door max thickness 1 3/4"). Use a good carpenter.
