Hiyas Teeda! Being the anal (jes a leetle bit *grin*) person that I am, I was determined to get a rug for our bedroom re-do that I was totally in love with not just something I'd settle for. After searching brick and mortar stores all over a 75 mile radius of my home, I went to dozens of sites online with the same questions: How is the rug made? What are ALL the colors in the rug? I did NOT want black, had to be dark brown, Nor any form of red or burgundy/wine/cranberry, had to be dark terra cotta or rust. The nice woman at Smart Bargains was the only one who had the patience to work with me via email for almost two weeks before I made my final decision. The rug came and I was floored/flabbergasted/excited beyond belief! It was everything I wanted and even more! The rug isn't in the bedroom yet. I unrolled it to take a pic so I can show you the design. Being I wanted a rug with all the colors in my new-to-us after 25 years bedroom, I couldn't be happier with the colors and the quality. Not to mention the great price and fast shipment! I have ordered rugs from Overstock dot com also with the same fast ship, good quality and great reduced price. But the rug for our bedroom had to be practically perfect for us and Smart Bargains' rug fit the bill to a T. Oh, and I've purchased other things (drapery, bedding, kitchenware, etc) from both Smart Bargains and Overstock and so far have never been disappointed.

Just giving my 2018 take on subway tile - I am definitely bored of it, mostly because I see it absolutely everywhere in bathroom and kitchen photos. The bathrooms with subway tile from floor to ceiling are especially puzzling/irritating. Varying width/length mosaic tile has been in fashion for the last several years and there's a lot of variety there - hopefully I won't get bored of that too soon but it can indeed look too busy. My style is a European look with American practicality - simple lines and a luxury look BUT lots of drawers/cabinet space and real wood, no weird stuff like wall-hung toilets, Edison lamps, or old-timey faucets.

a few years ago I wanted to start doing a new craft to take up some of my time. It couldn't cost much or take up much room. I went to the Steam Threshers reunion in Rollag MN. There was a lady there who was making these rugs. I talked to her but I never got her name of number. The next year we went back but she wasn't there. Some other ladies were doing the rugs and they said they have classes in MN. That wouldn't do me any good since I live in SD. They had the ladies email address from the year before and told me she was from Bismarck ND. That is my hometown. It took her 9 months to answer my email. We finally got together. She showed my sister and I how to make them in about 3 hours. My husband had made me the loom. He and the teacher talked together on the phone and she had emailed me some pictures of the loom. It only took him a couple of hours to make it I think. I can make a 43 in. x 24 in. rug in about 12 hours. I make them out of old sheets. I can buy the sheets at a thrift store for 25 cents a piece. They call them drop clothes. Some have stains or tears in them, but they still work for me. I have made about 15 of them. I sold 2 of them and have donated some to fund raisers or raffles and given away some. It takes about 5 sheets to make one. They have some videos on Utube. just put in twining rugs, I get lots of compliments on them. People have said they will last 40 years. They are machine washable. I made a set of placemats with the same loom and I can make pot holders or pads to set hot kettles on. Wyoming Breezes is a blog site that has some information on it too.
