Stepchildren

I'm 34yrs. old. Unlike some of the postings where the Bd has visitations. our situation is switched. My husband has custody. He has had his oldest daughter since she was about 2. His son since birth. Long story made short. His ex is terrible horrible person. And i'm not overdoing it. She has done everything she could to turn her kids against me. I'm not there mother, i can't tell them what to do. etc. etc. year after year she would tell them this. My husband and i have 3 children together. They were told to tell our kids that they are not his. I have 2 daughters from a previous marraige. They love their SD. And their BD was and is not their for them. so they have come to terms with that because they have a dad. I have tried to be equal with all of them. But it can't happen. My kids our grounded for cursing, failing grades, talking back being hateful to one another etc. But his 2 can do it all and they just get yelled at. "You better cut it out." My kids are old enough now that they see a double standard. And yet I get accussed of being the one with the double standard. you know. They say its me. Because they are not my biokids that its me. My husband and i seperated 2 yrs. ago because of this. We have tried to bring this family back together again. but i feel as if we are in a no win situation. his older daughter has gone to live with her mother more than once. for a week or so because she can't deal with her. but she made her the way she is! ! So the sD ends up living with one relative or another. This has been the cycle for the past 1 1/2. Now they know her from a day to day bases. They finally realized it wasn't me. But not once have i recieved an apology. they call and tell me oh she does this and that . all i can say is that's the way she was with me. But this last time she left our house because she didn't want to be her. She became progressively violent. the last straw for my husband was that she told him "what do i have to do to get out of this house kill one of these other kids!" she was throwing a full blown tantrum. with flying objects and all. Believe it or not after all these years this was the first time my husband saw for his own eyes how she really acts when told no. or she doesn't get her way. i almost belive until this moment my husband still thought it was me. my fault. i feel like such a failure. No one understand how hard it is to try to keep fairness and balance. No matter what we do we are choosing one side or another. My kids were never like that until the seperation. Now they also believe we let them get away with everything. I don't even know why i'm writing this. i know what to expect. but I needed to vent. Because right now my marriage is on the line. And to anyone looking for advice about stepchildren. RUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNN. don't look back don't wonder what if. And for those of you surviving the sc experience. LUCKY YOU!
