Bathroom Mini reno pictures

I have been working on this bathroom mini renovation for quite awhile. I have read all your helpful postings and looked at everyones pictures to come up with ideas. Thanks everyone.

The bathroom is a typical 80's room with the huge ballet mirror spanning the entire vanity and the Hollywood light bulb fixture.

We did not want to do a complete remodel just an update.

The cabinets were orangey oak and I painted them BM Bittersweet Chocolate. The light fixture is from Lowes$98,$49 faucets from Costco and $39 mirrors from Home Goods.The walls are painted BM Aura's Thicket, although this doesn't look like the true color. Ipainted the Master Bedroom the same color and just love it.

bellashere - I missed your note yesterday. I'm so sorry. I'd take the shower door out completely but then I'd have the lip of about 6 inches of tile off the ground for someone to trip over. And on the off chance we need to actually shower there (like there is something wrong with the upstairs shower) I don't think a curtain would be enough to keep the water in. (Though I could be wrong.) As for painting, it's not that I don't know how, but I am not physically able. I'm having to hire someone to paint the other rooms as well so I'm trying to keep it on the low side. Last bid for painting all the rooms was $4K which is about $2K more than I want to spend. Good idea on using a regular curtain. I think I'll have a lot more options. Handyman took the handles off the door today and took off the ugly brass towel rack and the weird block of wood behind it. Dry wall guy is fixing all the holes. sheesharee - I liked the Olive Branch too. Love it in your room. I think my thing is that I have had a hankering for Baby Turtle ever since I first saw it, I think it was in Red's room. And since I'm using Flowering Herb in the nearby rooms and they are right next to each other, I think they will blend well. Baby Turtle can go brown or green and I'm happy with both. The color makes me think of my garden, which is always a good thing. :)

Well, I would forgo the white and have a cohesive bathroom that includes almond... It will look better than trying to "ignore" it... I happen to like almond in the bathroom and am hoping it becomes popular again...you can do gray with it, but it's not so easy. You need a warm gray paint. I like this mirror for inspiration.. Here's a pretty shower curtain with beige and gray...

@Cherie I've definitely had that thought, but I feel that the longer we wait to do this project the harder it gets to deciding what we want. I've found that the more I think about this project the more unsure I've become really. This post was as close to we got to feeling like things were set to go...but given how this thread is going maybe taking extra time is the way to go @kariyava i actually love that all sand look...I showed it to my partner and we are considering using the sand britstone we chose with nickel fixtures just like it. but I think the stone we chose might a bit darker than the photo...might have to rethink the tile. As much as i like it I do worry that with double shower heads the bathroom might look a little crowded , and I'm not sure the spacious look would translate as well in a smaller bathroom with 8 ft ceilings

Why wouldn't you want to replace all the tile? Trying to match up old tile? No. We just did a master bath in our Florida home. We realized that it's not necessary to tile all the walls. Tile only in shower and floor. No need to do half or entire walls. The sky is the limit with design and tiles. My only suggestion would be to find tiles already in a series that match. Originally we tried choosing various tiles and things clashed. So, unless you have an eye, or a good designer, why not make it easy? The same tile were used in the shower and floor, but polished inside the shower, unpolished on floor. The shower floor is unpublished square mosaic.

It looks great! Do you have any before pictures? The colors look very pleasing on my monitor so I can imagine they're even more beautiful in person.

A wonderful job of a mini reno! NIcely done.

If I may make one suggestion, I would take the two pieces of art and hang them one over the other on the wall above the toilet. Having just the one there now, and the other kind of pushed into the corner by the vanity, minimizes the very cool impact of that bright art in the space.

Perhaps you can put a pretty towel hook in the nickel or bronze finish on that end wall and hang a hand towel there.

Wow, what a nice job! I am currently working on my bathroom and I've only compleated the walls and have spent well over $300. You did a great job!

Do you know the length of your lighting fixture? I'm looking for a longer one and yours looks perfect!

I love it. The green walls with the dark cabinets is just so easy on the eyes - very nicely done!

justagirl, the length of that fixture is 38 inches, I got it at Lowes

les. thanks for the suggestion about the towel holder. That picture is hanging there b/c that is where a small medicine cabinet was located and DH hasn't patched it up yet!

I love the serene look of the wall color combined with the chocolate brown and the fresh white toilet/counter. Wonderful job, and even more so because it was done so inexpensively.

I looked up the Aura Thicket color and saw that there were quite a few Aura XXX colors - is this a new BM collection? The thicket looked much darker on the website than on your walls. How dark is it IRL?

Aura is a new paint from BM. Great colors too. At first I didn't like them but have come to love them now. They are called Affinity colors and no matter what colors you pick, they will coordinate with each other.

The green on my walls is not as light as it appears to be b/c there is a window directly across from the vanity. I don't think it is a dark color IRL but more of a saturated color. Affinity colors have tons of green to choose from.

I was contemplating painting my old honey oak vanity ... I have the same double sink with white corian on the top. Did you sand before painting? Did you prime? What finish is the paint? Did you finish it off with poly? Sorry for all the questions! My DH thinks it is a bad idea to paint the cab in the bathroom because the of the moisture factor. We can't afford to replace it, but I am so sick of the honey oak.

Yes I did sand before I painted and used a primer(Zinnser 123)The paint is Ben Moore Expresso and I used a semi gloss. This color could not be made with their Impervo. I really followed Michael's(paintguy) painting guide over in the painting forum Do a search for paintguy and email him requesting his brochure. I followed it exactly.
