I posted 'football & helmet wanted' on Craig's list.

I hope someone has a football and a helmet that they want to get rid of. DH had me thinking - what happens if the football deflates and ruins my work. I was kinda let down till I thought about it .

*** LIGHT BULB MOMENT !!! ****

Cut a small hole in the ball and fill it with expanding foam !!! Whatever expands outside the football I can cut off right at the hole and it will be automatically plugged !!! Boy - where ther's a will - there's a way ~ LOL

I posted this idea in your other football thread. Heh.... I guess being a lightbulb isn't such a bad thing. ;-)

Thanks Rhonda. I know where Elizabeth is because we used to live in that area but it's a bit to far north of me now. I live about an hour and a half south of the Quad Cities. Anyway I'm still trying to find spots for the 12 I got at Hornbaker's last week. I also got 12 at Donnellson, IA earlier in the year. I'm about to wear my husband out, moved 7 older ones this morning to make room. They were all duplicates of others so I didn't mind moving them out. Also we have a new bed under construction. My husband is a jewel. I couldn't have my gardens without his labor. Judy

It's real :P It's a piece of real furniture as opposed to a ghost chair...oh dang those are real too heh heh Neh it's an antique. It has the right lines, right wood, etc. But I hate pics like that because I can't tell condition. You'd really want to be sure it's in good shape if it is pricy...how much do they want?

Oh I really dislike guns. I made DH store the ammo in a completely different place. He's not allowed to keep an armed gun in our house...he knows that is instant grounds for divorce. Seriously! He's got his hunting rifles, but doesn't hunt anymore. I don't mind target shooting, and want to go skeet shooting, but I don't like hunting. I won't go into my feelings on guns (HOT TOPIC!!) but we did not have guns in our house, except his hunting rifle, until our kids were out of the house. As to the jerk, S...I'm STILL trying to get the sheriffs office to call me back. I'm pretty perturbed, and DH is livid. So tomorrow I'm going to go over the head of the deputy that took the original call. I might even consider contacting our newspaper if I don't get some satisfaction soon. I mean, this jerk is still running around out there!! We don't perceive him as a threat, but I don't trust that he's not got a big mouth. I know he wouldn't risk coming by if we're home...he knows DH would pummel him. My DH is a big guy...S is a pipsqueak. And I'm pretty sure he won't come back around again...he knows DH and his friends are looking for him.

OMG, i knew i should of mailed that person. I have been just to busy here. You got a great deal. When i saw it i thought i should just email them. Great haul though. So now i know i have competion on craigs list here. LOL.. Have you every been to the stained glass warehouse in Arden NC??? I think i will drive up there this week. I need some glass and a few other things. And sick of hobby lobby's choice's.

Why not fill it w/Quickcrete? That's what I used when I filled the area between the two cardboard tubes to make the first garden column. Also put it in a gelatin mold to make concrete beads for the "Bead Pole". It's what I'll use to fill a jr. basketball to mosaic instead of a bowling ball. I used the kind w/rocks, but when it's unmolded, it comes out smooth as can be. On the basketball I AM wondering if I shouldn't dig a hole in the dirt to sit the ball so it'll hold it's shape????? Anyone ever tried this? I HAVE read that someone cut one in half, filled both halves, then mortared them back together, but that sounds like it would make a seam too noticeable.

There's a lot of information on the hypertufa forum about using basketballs, etc...if anyone is interested...you can search for "sphere"...and you'll see a lot of interesting posts on the subject.

also...on the hypertufa forum, the post with the subject of "sphere in two parts", the response from "tufaenough" talks about making a sphere in two parts, and how you put them together to "hide" the seam. Very interesting.
