Oooo - I missed this. Yeah, SHRTY - I have had soo much trouble working w/the two Van G. pkgs I bought a couple yrs. ago from Delphi. I just have so much trouble working w/it. If I'm seeing correctly, yours is the blue/copper combo. Why not using a background of copper and ???? - I have some denim mirror that might be a good combo w/the copper, but definitely, I'd use the other color in the blue for all or part of the background. Delphi gives pretty good advice on their products. You might write the customer service of the place where you bought it. Delphi was very prompt in answering all my questions re their products.

thanks Ellen - what a wonderful bright room that is! It looks like sconces won't work for me. One mirror is actually 3 pieces with the 2 sides folding in & the other is hanging on a frame and kind of swings. This one has feet that are quite deep & so is a distance from the wall. I'm going to do some experimenting with some old lights we have around here. Maybe I'll post a pic! Thanks for the help, I sure appreciate it

Other than the fact that it is a bit stiff, is there anything particularly Wrong with it for a 44 year old room? If so, what changes would you make? It's too cluttered, fussy and rigid. It has a good traffic flow. The mirror would go, not because it's bad, but those warped reflections make me nauseous (it's an optic thing). A flat mirror with good glass clarity in that spot would be fine. Assuming it has colors I liked and comfortable seating, I would clean off the tables, rip out the carpet and use a nice oriental rug on polished hardwood. The lambrequin might go or be recovered with something less formal. Lamps are OK, would replace scalloped shades for less formal linen ones. Because the colonial era was a big trading era, I would invent a family member who "was in shipping" and sent back interesting things. I would hang more paintings, fewer non-paintings. Mirror on the right would go, hang a nice landscape instead.

April, thanks for the photos. It gives me a better idea of your style. At this point, as far as the fireplace, or any other changes, I recommend having an overall plan. Design is more holistic and, if you don't mind, could we see -photos of the other parts of this room -photos of other rooms (and information on what you are not changing) -furniture you have and are keeping My biggest concern right now is the furniture arrangement. The fireplace is in an awkward place. It might be difficult to arrange furniture, especially if you have a tv........unless it goes on the mirror wall.....an argument in your favor to remove the mirrors. What direction do the windows face?
