Glad I checked your thread!! I just love that picnic basket and the comfy looking blankets. Picnic cookbooks, always a favorite with me! The cool and refreshing items look fun. For the family schelp I leave my fancy picnic basket at home and usually use cardboard boxes or paper grocery bags, and coolers, with Ziplock bagas and containers in them. I think Tubtrugs would be great for the purpose, as well. Easier to carry, and with less failure, but then we always have lots of bags and boxes that need reusing so I've never gotten any. There are all kinds of interesting bento box configurations that would work for a small group. Also stainless tiffins. My favorite picnic basket for concert in the park kinds of things is a woven rectangular cube with a shoulder strap. It has a removable soft cooler that fills the interior, and sides that hinge up with wire legs so that the top forms a small table. It can with dishes, but those never get used. As you mentioned, they take up too much room. On those occasions we use disposable, even if they're coming home for reuse, because they're lighter and take up less space.

Oh Mtn! Thanks for thinking of me! That is a very lovely basket and I love that it is not too big! For now, I have gone the practical route. I bought an insulated cooler tote and a beach tote. I've outfitted them with picnic blankets, a little Boos board and some cute knives. I like that they are easy to store. Our next concert on the lawn is next weekend in a beautiful setting. I've been so busy with other things, including DS2's HS graduation this past weekend, I haven't given it much thought. I may just hit up the French bakery for sandwiches and tarts. On a side note, DH has asked me to help him create a cake that looks like a mosquito for a contest at work so I'm practicing some sugar work and trying to figure out how to make something so ugly look palatable. I'm open to ideas :)
