You deserve to sleep in on the weekends and if she has a problem with that , then she can stuff it! Sounds to me that she does have an issue now. mmmm..parenting is hard eh? Guess she depends on her BF alot for her kids. Not very motherly of her.
I get up at 5:30 am everyday , evenon weekend cause thats just the person i am. I would love to sleep in one day but until my son is older...it aint' gonna happen!

I'll admit that THAT is one of my resentments about BM leaving and us having full custody now. When she skips a weekend or it's DH's weekend, I might go two or three weeks without sleeping in ONCE. (and for me, 7am is sleeping in) SD doesn't know how to sleep in, she's up early on weekends.

Meanwhile, BM can sleep in EVERYDAY if she wants because she has NO KIDS. She gets to have one on one alone time with her BF every night of the week too. Of course, now I know she's coaching his kids in sports, I don't know which is more irritating... that she ignores her kids but not his... or when I thought she dumped her kids to just be with the BF.

What gets me is when I feel guilty for being excited to get to sleep in on the weekends SD's not here. I don't want to feel like I'm glad she's not here, but I am glad I get a break.

We don't have A__ all the time, so I know that I don't have the complaining rights that Ima has for this one, but I get irritated too!

BM works a fair number of weekend shifts, so obviously A__ stays with us or a grandparent when she works... but even when she has the weekend off, she sends A__ to a grandparent if there's a night he's not with us, because she wants to see her boyfriend and sleep in or because she "has stuff to do".
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind getting up in the morning with A__ (especially since I just get him breakfast, chat for a few minutes and head back to bed for another hour), but it irritates me that she can't be bothered to spend her freetime on weekends with him!

Sleeping in what?? Is there such a thing?? Here is my schedule. I work 3 to 11. When I get in I work on the computer for a hour or two makeing a little side cash and wind down. I Get in be about 1:30,2am. I get up at 5 with the kids everyday M-F and get them ready for school. I clean house till bout 9. If I'm lucky I get to take a nap. I havent had more than 5 straight hours of sleep in so long I dont remember. Its better now. I use to only get 3 hours sleep. lol. Why she cares is beyond me. I mean she has every one else doing her job for her. Tell her that and tell her to be happy. I just dont understand sometimes. I don't complain about my life it is hectic yes but I chose this life. My only complaint is when BM goes way over the line and I just dont know what to do. I must research this sleeping in sounds like something I am missing. Oh as for weekends cant sleep in when there are four kids running around. lol To Loud to Loud lol

my parents love having grandkids around, now they only have one grandchild who is still young and my mom always asks my brother to bring her over. my point is that there could be other relatives that sometimes can and want to spend time with children. if you get tired and overwhelmed or simply want time for yourself i see nothing wrong with grandparents stepping in. ceph is it possible that grandparents want A to come over? i would hate somebody telling me or my brother that when our kids went to grandparents for the weekend it is like us abandoning the kids or something. don't some grandparents love being with grandkids? "she sends kid to grandparents", and how is it wrong? not like she sends him to a foster care.

IMA ... I think you and I are in the same boat. Mine were older had already been through having to wake up on weekends to be with the kids ... and then bam back to getting up early.. because my SC are/were young. I looked forward to Sunday mornings to sleep til 8 when they used to go to Mom's .... Even just reading the paper on Sunday with out having to keep an eye on kids. Then having to beg mom for one day it took going to court to get a weekend night.

Ceph... been there too :) When I first met hubby the kids went every saturday ... then the schedule changed because of her work schedule ... listen to her cry how she never had a day off how she had to work every weekend ... after she got laid off we found out she had one weekend off a month and either a friday or saturday of the other weekends but she refused to take her kids on a weekend for over a year... Then she got laid off had every day free ... and still didn't take her kids on a weekend night had to take her to court to get a "break".

Lori... guessing you are like me any noise and awake :) .. and I am not really talking any noise my SC would fight over every little thing they were not able to get along ... sibling rivalry was not even close to explaining their interactions .. it was more like sibling abuse!! From fighting over who got to use what bowl who would let the dog out... who had more milk in their bowl who had more cereal in theirs... was dumb.

The only thing I do miss about them going every weekend is being able to putz around with them and do things but I eventually the schedule will change again .... so enjoying my free weekends without children...

When I split with my ex some weekends he took the kids others he did not nothing set in stone but it didn't phase me if I needed him to take the kids he did and If he couldn't take them I would was/is very amicable when it comes to the kids.... they are older now 16 and 22 no really issues ...

For me its not really about sleeping in ... 8AM is sleeping late ...its about not having to break up fights or settle arguements over dumb stuff ... mine were older so they would get up get breakfast for themselves and watch tv or play till I got up on weekends ... my SC would be waking me up at 5:30 wanting breakfast ... funny though I have to drag them out of bed during the week but on weekends up bright and early and rearing to go!!!

Kicker is ..... she has asked me if I thought hubby would let her have a Weekend night off. My repsonse was are you kidding he asked you for a year to take the kids on a weekend night so I think I can guess what his repsonse will be ... "take me to court" .... she was not happy.

I then went into this big spiel about consideration and compromising ... and asking her would/did you do it for him when you can answer that question truthfully then maybe the two of you will get along...

When asking him stuff ask yourself if he asked it of you what would your answer be and that will be the answer he gives you.

We learned long ago with mom if its not on paper she won't do it ... she's the type if you ask her something about a day she flips through the paperwork and will answer well the CO says I don't have to get them till 5:30 whatever... She was not working but Sundays the CO said pickup at 5:30PM she would not budge she did not pick them up til 5:30PM on a Sunday and drop them off at 8 am Monday morning because the CO said beginning of school so if no school she would drop them off at 8AM.... how sad is that... no extra time with her kids.

So we have every day of the year covered ... and every circumstance covered. No school days, including sick and snow days... parental hospital stays...birthdays... vacation weeks, school year, summer vacation, holidays and holiday eves... everything!!!

I do think it's sad when a parent doesn't spend as much time as they can with their kids. They are only young once and it goes by way too fast. I don't understand a parent NOT making up missed time. I understand that things happen where they can't take the child(ren) at the scheduled time, but I would think the natural thing to say is: "I'm busy this weekend, but I can make it up on _________".

I think court orders should be followed precisely if the parent's CAN'T agree. But if they both can agree and be flexible, then there's no reason to stick to EXACT times, etc. I imagine how the kids must feel, 'I'm going to be late for XXX because the court order say XXX and mom won't get me until then or dad won't let me go until then..." It must make them feel like they are property, not a person.

My BF's dad and SM like to have A__ once in awhile (at least one afternoon or evening a week) and look forward to his visits. They have a bedroom for him and most weeks he also spends a night there. I don't think one night a week with grandparents who asked to have him come over is a bad thing at all! I think it's great to have a good relationship with your grandparents.
What I do have trouble with is when BM dumps A__ at her mom's without asking, or is pissy when her mom says no. If BM has to work that night, and GM wants to take A__, then that's one thing... But we got a call from A__ a few weeks ago on Saturday morning "Hi Dad, can you come get me now? I'm at Grandma's and I have been since Wednesday and she says she's sick of me, but Mom isn't answering her phone even though she's off work today"

BM's brother lives across the street and has two kids. Their kids are always at Grandma's too. She sometimes asks my BF if he can take the 10 year old boy for the day too, because she's fed up with having three kids around all the time. In the summer when the condo pool is open, he sometimes does. She doesn't ask him to take the three year old girl though.

Obviously fostering a good relationship between your child and their grandparent is a good thing... But this isn't that, this is using their mom as free childcare, and their mom being unhappy about it.
