Bedding: Pottery Barn vs Restoration Hardware

I've found bedding (duvet cover) I Iike at both stores. Both are white with a little bit of detail.

At restoration hardware, it is the hotel line. At pottery barn it is called Pearl embroidered.

Anyone have experience with bedding from these 2 places? I'm looking for something that comes out of the dryer looking good and is comfy.

I've just gotten my new bedding from RH I got the 300 count
Italian Chocolate Edged Sateen Bedding and I love it. Very luxurious feeling. I picked the Garnet and the colors are deep and rich. I of course washed it right away so I could use it immediately. Looks and feels so nice. The Hotel sets are only 210 thread count but the quality of the material and and manufacturing is evident. Besides there is a sale onright now on bed linens.

I broke down last year and bought a set of the RH bed sheets - just the plain ones. They're the percale 464 thread count ones. I was sick when I ordered them because they're really expensive, but I have to say they are the nicest sheets I've ever had. I only have the one set so I take them off and wash them and put them back on, but sleeping on them every night for over a year - I think I've gotten my money's worth! I will probably have these sheets for many more years.

They are so soft, but still a bit crisp. My only grip is they tend to wrinkle at the very top, but sometimes I'll iron the top 12" or so across and then they're smooth until I wash them. I love the softness and slight crispness of the percale.

I installed the Cartwright medicine cabinet 5 years ago. I love it, it is sturdy and has held up well to a lot of abuse. The only problem I've had is the paint is coming off the edges. Very small but I notice it! I called RH and they don't have a paint to cover it with, so I'm contemplating using the trim paint I used in my bathroom to cover those. But they are very small. It does match my 1919 home beautifully.

Thanks Bee some very sage, calm advice. I have calmed down a bit and can see that I need to cross that bridge when I get there. Hopefully never!! I had never thought about using an auto body shop to chrome plate the latches. A good idea, but do they do that? My latches are polished nickel and while the difference is slight they are different. I have chrome faucets in the kitchen and don't mind the difference so food for thought. Thanks for the suggestions. Pottery Barn did contact me. I gave them my phone and email but they chose to do it via email. I would have preferred a personal phone conversation. They of course apologized without ever suggesting that they made any error or that their marketing needs any adjustment. They offered me $50. I have not responded yet but will likely ask them to still explain why I was told my order was available for "immediate shipping". A large company such as theirs must have ability to keep track of stock electronically. Also, I will probably take the money but may just donate the gift certificate to my school for the raffle baskets at the Spring Fair. I am presently boycotting purchases from them. Can't say I may not purchase some bedding or knick knack in the future but definitely NOT hardware or anything I may need to replace with an exact or similar copy.

I do have one of those "crazy big mattresses" :-). That was why I was concerned! I think the queen will be too small and the kind too big according to the sizes listed. I thought to save money by ordering the Pottery Barn quilt(nearly a hundred dollars with quilt and shams)vs the Restoration Hardware quilt that has a more generous size. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find an oversize ivory quilt with decent quality that is a bit less expensive than RH? Thank you for all your feedback! Carol

I have never bought any sheets per se at RH but I have noticed the gorgeous linens they have on the bed and they are just lovely. I didn't notice them at PB.

I don't have RH sheets but my daughter's PB sheets and duvet cover are very, very soft and comfortable.
