Antique Brass Hardware with Stainless Appliances??
Comments (13)Thank you all for taking time to post and for your reassurance that the metal finishes can be successfully mixed. Although in those beautiful kitchens, I really think anything would look good! Mine is definitely more 'humble'.... (Shanghaimom - your kitchen is my dream.... I had seen it on another thread and bookmarked it. I just didn't focus on the fact that the pulls were burnished brass - on my monitor, they looked like brushed nickel.) So - let's assume that I do use antique gold-toned hardware in the kitchen. Since we will be painting woodwork and replacing cabinet hardware throughout the house (both bathrooms, hall linen closets, laundry cupboards) does it all need to match the finish of the kitchen hardware? Or could I use a different finish in the bathrooms ie satin nickel or oil-rubbed bronze? We were not planning to replace all of the interior doorknobs (50+ year old brass) when the woodwork is painted - in case that impacts your answers. Thanks again for walking me through this.......See MoreStainless appliances - cabinet hardware?
Comments (27)You asked: "I am wondering if I should stick with the brushed nickel cup pulls and knobs? " Who do you have to please? Just yourself? Then don't think about "should". Think about what you love. Do you love the look of your ORB? Then do that. Are you concerned about resale? Are you concerned about a "unified look"? Then you need to take a bit more time to think about it. I had brass knobs in my kitchen, and then we installed SS appliances. I always liked the look of the brass knobs, but my 14-year-old son, who doesn't usually express any decorating opinions, said, "Mom, you really HAVE to get stainless knobs now." Oh. I do? So we bought a couple, just to see how it looked. It looked pretty good. So we switched. Moral of the story... if you can't decide, look at both....See MoreSS sink and faucet...can I have ORB Hardware?
Comments (6)I think it is fine to mix between finish of faucet and knobs/pulls, generally speaking. I think the finish of the faucet should relate more to your countertop and any backsplash directly behind. The finish of your pulls should relate primarily to your cabinet doors and other door handle finishes or light fixtures in the house. If your faucet and cabinet knobs/pulls are very close together and completely opposite, that could be a distraction. But for example dian57's kitchen above, I think all the finishes go pretty well, partly because she has a lot of neutrals so there is not a lot of "competition" in the room....See More"Slate" Appliances and ORB Hardware?
