I'm having the same problem. The first thing I checked was the deck pulleys. Sure enough I had an idler pulley that was locked up. Got a new one cleaned the underside of the deck installed the belt fired it up pulled the PTO and down the engine went. It would still run but at less than optimal speed and if you actually tried to cut grass it would pull the engine down until it stalled. I put it back into the garage and started with the fuel system. Replaced the filter and checked for good output from the pump, it was very good. Pulled the plate off the top of the carb to check for foreign matter in any of the fuel journals, zip. I pulled both plugs and the left on was fairly black though not oily and caked with carbon. Replaced that plug and checked for good spark-none. Bad coil pack? Got a new on and used emery cloth on the flywheel. Still no spark at the plug. However if while the engine is running I short out the plug lead the engine slows down even more and runs just like you would expect with a plug shorted out. I still don't understand why there is no spark in the plug gap. I have observed the engine running looking for an errant spark in the wiring. Don't see any. Any body got a god idea what to do next? BTW the compression in that cylinder is 150. Now what?

I also have a 2005 Husqvarna LGT2654 riding mower that the blades wont engage :( I did as tractortrader said and got on the mower, turned the key (engine still off though) and tried to engage the blade and I didn't hear anything. The electric clutch spring looks fine. I'm thinking, since I don't hear anything when trying to engage the blade I am going to have to replace the PTO clutch. We have also replaced the drive belt recently, and the transmission because the reverse was not working so well. Since we replaced the transmission the reverse works a little better but not much. Any suggestions on that? Or is it just time to get a new mower!? lol

I suspect that the problem is lack of good ground between the PTO clutch and the tractor frame, please test this. This is the black wire that comes out of the PTO clutch wiring harness and goes to the tractor frame nearby. Just looking at the ground point isn't enough; you have to make certain that there is good contact. If you find that you absolutely, positively have good ground, then move on to the next suggestions You need a test meter to run down some things. Follow these steps: Transmission in neutral, brake engaged, key switch ON (but engine not running), PTO switch ON. Meter's negative lead (black wire) connected to battery negative terminal. Touch meter positive lead (red wire) to battery pos. terminal. Should get reading between 11.8 and 13.2 volts. If not, test battery. Touch meter pos lead to the key switch terminal where the red wire is connected. Should get battery voltage reading. If not, check the pos. battery cable from battery to solenoid, and test the red wire. Touch meter pos lead to key switch terminal where the yellow wire is connected. Should get bat. voltage. If not, replace key switch. Touch meter pos lead to the PTO switch yellow wire connection. Should get bat. voltage. If not, test yellow wire. Touch meter pos lead to PTO switch blue wire connection. Should get bat. voltage. If not, PTO switch is bad. Touch meter pos lead to PTO clutch blue wire. Should get bat. voltage. If not, test blue wire. NOW, turn key switch OFF. Set meter to resistance. Touch meter pos lead to PTO clutch black wire. Should get maximum of 0.1 OHMS. If not, test black wire from PTO clutch to where the wire is grounded to the frame. Also, check the battery negative cable for good ground.

I don't any qualms about changing a setting. My first engagement ring was small and was all DH could afford since he was still in grad school.
