What do you make of these CL swivel glass tables?

I was revisiting my brother's room plan for the Florida nest, wondering about it being a little crowded with the large coffee table. Thought to use the coffee table against the wall for media. I was imagining a glass swivel coffee table might be a lighter look. I was having no luck finding the retro one in my head. Found a small British one by Leitmotiv, and one pricey brass vintage one - the rest out there are more modern than retro.

Then CL came through again right on cue. Spooky.

I can't quite figure out if these $50 pieces are meant to be 'deco' (per the seller) or 60s or 70's or 80's or maybe just confused, like Austin Powers knocking back a few with the Golden Girls? Surely they are not in the class of the $1200 one linked below, so what is it that makes them NOT that. Other than brass. I'm curious.

No markings. Heavy and seem well made. Thoughts?

(I want to mix them in with the MCM walnut/cane pieces. Is that like putting mayo on ice cream?)

I'm no expert, but the utility and style of these tables would be a grab-it-fast choice for me at that price assuming the glass is intact...in fact, maybe even if I had to replace the glass.

Glass is close to perfect, a few minor scratches, no chips. Heavy and tempered - one piece has a marking saying 'tempered' anyway. Tables were filthy, but cleaned up nicely. The seller had said "like new" - yikes, I'd hate to see her version of "gently used".

And I did 'grab-it-fast' - as fast as it took to drive 88 miles to Chicago this morning in 105 degrees. The '97 toyo was a champ.

Getting off topic, but here is the latest craigslist annoying scam that I fell for: I posted to give something away, got a response, replied that the person could have the item, and the spammer sends this back: OK, thank you for getting back to me. Actually i cant get it right now anyways, my son just put a HUGE dent in my van and now im gonna need to figure out how much money its gonna cost to repair it. ugh! Im so happy he didn't get hurt but of course it just had to happen now, when i am finally making good money with this home income program i've been doing. You know, if you want, theyve just opened up 2 more positions in our area. Basically you get paid to post links online, its very easy and I usually just do it while watching tv. While I so appreciate the praise, I am pretty sure with a bit of guidance via blogs or You Tube videos, that all of you could do this. This project had no sewing except for the double welt. I REALLY lucked out with that coffee table for $25, and finding the perfect fabric. dlm2000, I'm sorry I missed your question on the welt 'flange'. It just gets cut away, after sewing the welt and before gluing it to the piece. I hope that blog I linked above helps. To sweet Lynn, and the other kind folks who think of my house as a jewel box, if you could see it right now, with my dining room table covered with an old plastic table cloth, and chairs, ottomans and drawers on it in various stages of 'done-ness', well, be afraid - be very afraid! My full time job makes it hard to get a project done, except for this ottoman, which was quick and easy!

First of all, it's not an "antique" as advertised. I know many people think anything old is antique but that doesn't make it so. OR they call it an antique in the hopes of getting a better price. For a vintage 70's piece it's overpriced IMO. If you like it and if the grids can be easily removed I'd also recommend waiting until or if the price becomes more reasonable. There is an entire set "here" for $350 that would be better value IMO. You could probably sell the table and chairs for the $350 and have a free china cabinet!

I Like #3 - "matchy, matchy" is what Nate Berkus calls furniture that is matched. He likes a room where there is nothing that "matches" another piece of furniture. I do too for the most part. Sometimes it's not practical but in your case, I think the reason #3 is more "striking" and elegant is that it isn't a precise match. #2 looks "dated" to me - like it belongs in an estate sale and not in a good way, in a way that indicates "it has seen its day". Though it may be that the china cabinet is enhancing the "dated" look. Sorry to mention Nate Berkus (on TV) so much but I like his style and he gives a tip to use a "chest of drawers" with nice arrangement on top as a replacement for a china cabinet. I think I agree on that one too. If you have a lot of china to store, not sure where that goes though. Always must be practical too of course but thought I'd mention the tip.

I'd have paid $50 for them, but not thousands. Amazing. I have nothing against brass but in this case I like the silver/chrome ones both better. The rounded frame is softer and I like the feel of that with all the circles. The gold color of the brass and the straighter edges make it a harsher look.
