OT- should we try a Tuesday Tea?

I know many of you have been drinking more tea lately and I thought it might be fun to try a Tuesday Tea. We do Thursday Tea on the Cottage Garden forum (Conversation side) and it's a lot of fun. I thought it might be nice to try it here and see how it goes :)

Anyway, if you want to have a cup of tea (hot or iced) or even another beverage, just decide if you plan to have tea inside or out in the garden...take a picture if you want...and stop by and join in the conversation.

I'll start, by saying today is a lovely day and I plan to make a cup of Earl Grey and sit in the shady spot of my fairy garden. The bee balm is beautiful and the hummingbirds are loving it. I'll try to take a few pictures and post them later. We've got friends coming out to visit this weekend, so I'll be doing a lot of weeding this week, but I love to take time for a cup of tea in the afternoon.

LL, can you link to a post over there? I'm not sure I understand and would like to see such a conversation. I just looked and didn't see a thread with a Tea in the subject line.

Marti- Sure. We usually get together on Thursdays, on the Conversation side of the Cottage Garden forum. Some weeks are busier than others, but it's always fun to chat and catch up, in case we haven't talked much during the week.

Some people like to share pictures, others have interesting stories, some share recipes and some just visit. It's pretty much whatever you feel like that day...just a reminder to take some time for yourself and enjoy a cup of tea :)

Sorry to be late to the party, Lav. But we had no power for a long time, and now I am in the throes of deciding what to pack and how to put it into the PODS that arrives next Saturday. It won't be long now. And all my varieties of tea are going home with me. Once I get home, I am ordering a real camellia sinensis, which is the tea plant. Regular camellia japonica and sasanqua japonica grow easily in our gardens in Mobile, so I'm hoping I can grow my own tea. I recommend that YOU plant such a bush in a pot and keep it in your greenhouse once it is built. But it is a gorgeous bush to look at, and can be nipped as it grows to make a spot of tea at any time. Now that it is no longer daylight savings, my internal clock will need some resetting. I expect to have more cups of tea today to keep awake.

Jakabedy- Congrats on the new room arrangement! It sounds like it's a lot more functional and comfortable, now. I know what you mean, about trying to simplify. I've spent the day going through things on my bookcases (books, display, dishes, even toys) to clean and sort. Goodwill is going to love me! LOL Marti- Good for you, getting all your bills organized. Are you doing a spreadsheet, for your budget? I would probably just toss everything into a pretty box or file and deal with it, at the end of the week. I'm not that organized...unless I have to be. Schoolhouse- I LOVE your tea caddy! I can't believe you got that from England...what a great friend. I like the part, where he just walked to the store, to pick it up for you. Don't you love the Internet? Oh, and good luck with your library furniture. It certainly sounds like a big project, but I'm always amazed at what you're able to do...in the kitchen, bringing stuff into the house, your garden. I feel like a slacker, sometimes :) ML- It would be fun to get a real tea plant, for the greenhouse. What a treat! I can see why you've had enough of packing, this year. Once you've had a well deserved rest, I hope to see some pictures of your tea house! Shades- Your backsplash looks wonderful! I really like the canisters, too...they look so nice. What a great project. Congrats, on the faucet, too! Mama Goose- Your kitchen is so beautiful! I'm so excited that you're almost finished. I can't wait to see the guest room...it will be so much fun, to see you working on another project :)

Caroline that is a shame the Martins come back too soon. I would feel the same as you losing some. Hoping your weather sorts itself out for you tomorrow. We have two sunny days in a row but big winds. I could only stand to be out there for a short time. I did find a tea cup and saucer that will work but not matching. I will photo next time. I did get the four tomato plants I bought today planted with wall -o water around them. Never safe this time of year to plant out with out the wall-o-water. They work well for me. The other veggie plants are planted seeds in the house. Hubby is going back on chemo next week. He has had a three months break after 7 months on. Hoping it is not too hard on him, He is getting pretty tired of being sick every day and night. I looked at the up and coming Fairy tale town tank and it is maybe 3 foot across. Not as big as I thought and I think this is probably a good thing as I do not have too much fairy stuff to put out there. It will be an ongoing project. Now I need to build a house and some other things to make it the mini yard I envision.

"it is the little things some times that give us the most pleasure. So glad your door is fixed. It has been this way a long time." yes shades, it is so often those little things... like a door handle that works! it stopped working back in the summer - I came out of CFA with a sandwich and it wouldn't open! there I was in the AZ heat! until now, when I went in somewhere, I left the door ajar enough that it didn't 'catch' and lock me out. I always wondered if someone would come by and think 'oh, look someone didn't get their door shut... I'd better shut it tight for them...' I always moved the front seat back all the way so that if they did I 'd have room to crawl over that seat again and open from the inside. yesterday was thrilling - no crawling over the seat, no moving the seat back when I left the car or leaving the door a bit open... it certainly makes doing an errand, going to the grocery a lot easier. having a door that opens with a handle sure can spoil a person - lol! be careful out there with all that snow! I bet your roof would be just fine without you getting the snow off - but, I'd be like you too and worry it'd cave in. it's not something I could physically do - part of the reason I moved to AZ years ago was to get away from the snow - I needed the warmer (and dry) weather too. it's good that you do a little at a time and then rest a spell and get warm before doing more of it.

I bought some Lemon Crunch muffins just awhile ago, so my kettle is on for tea today, not Tuesday or Thursday! But I'm usually over at Cottage Gardens Conversations on tea day; and knowing me, I'll have to photograph these lemon muffins on the tea tray tomorrow. :)

I hope you all will stop by and visit, if you like. If you have fun, we can have a tea here, on Tuesdays, all visit the Cottage Garden forum (Conversations side) on Thursdays...or both! LOL

I have a question lavendar_lass. Do you try to all have tea at a specific time so that you are actually communicating in real time, or do you just post and then people read at their leisure?

Ellendi- Sometimes, we don't even all make in on the same day. (LOL) Usually, we start on Thursday afternoon and finish on Friday, since someone (even me) will forget it's Thurday and stop by the next day. It's a lot of fun and very relaxed. If you want to post a picture of your garden, your tea dishes, or something else...you can. Schoolhouse and a few others take lovely photos. Some people might share a recipe and many just talk about their day.

It's really up to you, how you want to participate...but mainly, it's a way to keep in touch and enjoy a cup of tea :)

Lav, I suppose I've been MIA since before last Tuesday Aug 16? I did not realize that I'd missed that much. I've been on the hot tea bandwagon since you and my new Teahouse combined to lure me that direction.

And you remember that little book about Tea by Mary Jo Koch? Well, it gives me mental images of sweet little tea pots and brief facts about tea, which are also inspirational. Now that I am up nawth for a couple of months, I have access to some old English style teapots too. Plus, up here, my younger granddaughters love to come over and we have a tea party. They love hot tea. I suppose it is part of their Irish heritage. So, I have stocked a big supply of various teas, from loose tea to bags to sachets, and we explore the world of tea.

I look forward to joining the fun. IF I can keep focused on what day it is...........
