I will start, I am in Southern California, Riverside area, where is everybody else being creative ?

That makes 4 from Illinois - 2 from northern, 1 from southern, and I am from central.

Thanks Oberon, I didn't know one could specify a coating on the "outside" of an IG unit. That's a good idea for storm windows. My idea of using the big box to order replacement glass now won't work----they won't sell it unless I am specifically using it for one of their manufacturer's windows. I'm not---I'm making storm windows. So, now the price of glass has doubled and tripled based on quotes from the mom & pop shops I've talked to (none of which seem to know much about coatings and IG). So, I may be forced to use single-pane 1/4" glass. But, before I give up on IG, I want to poke around a bit more. EfficientWindows.org (if I'm reading it correctly) says clear, single panes get 1.04 U-factor and double-pane clear is 0.50 That seems a big difference and that's without any coating. What they don't say is the thickness of the glass panes in either example. Is that likely to be 1/8"? http://www.efficientwindows.org/glazing_.cfm?id=1 Their stated 0.50 U-factor is based on double-pane, clear with a 1/2" airspace. But again, they don't say the thickness of the glass. http://www.efficientwindows.org/glazing_.cfm?id=3 My winter temps average 20's nighttime & 30's daytime. Since my old drafty home never gets warm in winter or hot in summer, what are the best thickness choices for an IG unit? I was thinking 5/8" overall (two 1/8" lites with 3/8" airspace) but maybe another configuration is much better given performance & prices. Maybe 1/2" overall is good enough and much less expensive. What do you recommend? I am gearing up for winter! I'm new to this area (I'm from Los Angeles where I also had an old, drafty home but never really noticed). I've gone to the Indiana State Fair as long as I could remember. Now that I have my own kiddos, I go twice :) Once with everyone, and we go with the kids' flow. And I go again with Jacob to see what we missed the first time. We have a State Fair Train which leaves about a mile from our house. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the fairgrounds, and the kids love riding the train.

Well you can still do a drive by. That's what I do with my mom who is in a wheel chair. I go every year too, but didn't this year, since it wasn't a great year, but your gd found a nice patch for a picture. She had to have that chair up on something, cause those sunflowers are about 7 to 8 feet tall.

Central OH. I was raised near Cincinnati - my husband and I moved to San Diego to find work (for him, a carpenter) in late 1979 due to the recession - construction and factory jobs had crashed to a halt. I stayed there after we split; really felt more at home there than I ever had in OH. But, after almost 13 years, the cost of living was becoming a strain and I wanted some family near as well - so back to OH, this time to Columbus, though, and I have found it to be a very pleasant place to live. Lots of parks, cycling and hiking, great live music, very many good and varied restaurants including lots of ethnic (various African, middle eastern, and other-than-Chinese Asian.) All sorts of activity. The past two summers have been hotter and more humid than the first 25, but I still find them tolerable (I like heat) and the winters are still pretty moderate -- the past 2 weeks of erratic weather notwithstanding - I don't mind them at all. Still, I think about trying another part of the country. I would like to go back to the San Diego area but do not think it would be a wise financial move.

In a state of intense concentration. When I'm painting a whole day can pass by...the only things that get my attention are hunger and the call of nature. I do my painting in Kitchener, Ontario...that's in Canada.

Looks like I'm the first Nutmegger here! Though my family tell me I'm from the State of Confusion and Chaos. And Liz - soon to be in Virginia City NV, you are soooo lucky. I was there last year and fell in love with the place. Have aspirations of moving there someday :o)

What state am I in? Mostly confusion and ignorance! But I've been told that spending my years in the southmost tip of Texas (seems to be 100 most of the time!!) hasnt hurt my painting...but my chat friends do worry about my mental stability since I will soon be married to a man with 5 sons after first marriage of 28 yrs without children! I know that we painters are special & spread everywhere cause I've gotten to meet some of you! Love us all no matter where we are!!

Hi Patti here. I paint in Iowa. Hi to Kim and Trish, what part of Iowa are you in? I'm in the southwest in CB right next to Omaha NE.

And to Robin. I have a friend who lives across the street from Disney Land. Judy Coderre (I may have spelled that wrong I know her by maiden name) How about looking her name up in phone book and giving her my email address. I have lost track of her.

Like Countrypatch, I have painted in more than one state-Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio,Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, But that may be "cheating" GRIN-We did Craft shows in all of those states, and I always painted during the shows! Have Lived and painted in 3, (Florida (always home) South Carolina, and Virginia) and vacation every year in Indiana.

Hi I paint on wood, and just about anything that can be painted on , I Have been painting for 10 years. I live in the south western part of Indiana. about 70 miles south west of Indianapolis , In. love painting, and do lots of other crafts. this site is the best.

I'm from Arizona. But, born and raised in southern Idaho.My husband joined military 12 years ago. So, we have lived in Delaware, New Mexico, Korea, Turkey, and now we have been in Arizona for four years now. I haven't posted here to much.But, I visit here everyday. I love it!
