traditional stained or leaded glass artists?

I love all of the mosaics but I was wondering if there is anyone on here that does traditional stained or leaded glass. It says it is a stained glass and mosaics site but all I see is mosaics...

I know Rchovy, Calamity, Bamasusanna and Toomuchglass are all stained glass artists but they all enjoy making mosaics as well.

Yup we sorta turned into a mosaic group here for the last little while...but I do have plans on making a 1527pc wisteria lamp shade....thats 797 more pcs than my peacock window!!!

HI LL: We didn't use any NEW leaded glass in the new house, but we were able to salvage a couple stained glass windows from the old house that weren't totally destroyed by age and weather. We are planning to put one similar to this one in our bathroom. This particular window was in an upstairs closet at the old house, and had started to bow pretty badly. I refinished and repaired and the frame, and had them reinstall it in an interior wall. The one I will be putting in the new bath is the same size and shape, but is all beveled glass. However, the frame is literally falling apart, so I'm hoping to be able to salvage it. I do stained glass as a hobby, and will be making panels for the transom area above a couple of our doors. I retired from my job last Wednesday, and today is my 65th birthday, and tomorrow I leave on vacation (insert big smile). Now that I'll have more time, my plan is to get my stained glass shop set up here in the new house (have an area in the basement ready to go), and do more projects than I've had time for in the past few years.

There is a stained glass shop in our area that does a lot of stained and leaded glass repair. Along with classes and selling glass, I think it is a major art of their business. We had to have a piece or two of our front door replaced (beveled, of course) and that's how I found them. The number of broken pieces concerns me, but I have no idea whether that will be a problem other than the cost of repairing more of them. Be glad they aren't beveled -- you pay by the inch for custom beveled edges. Hope you can find a good shop near you.

This turned out Beautiful.The old wavy glass is so cool. I have not learned how to do this yet but I did buy out a stained glass artist of all his tools so some day when I get the courage I am going to give it a try. He had lots of bevels and maybe I should just try foiling a few and putting them together to see how it goes. AFTER I finish project 190473-22 on my list of mosaics.

Sorry this isn't the best pic...when I get a chance, I'll update. Back in the 60s, Mom and her GF would go on weekend trips up to VT and NH to see the foliage. They saw an old house that was being torn down. At the time, Mom was looking for old fancy moldings for Dad to make into picture frames for her. So she went in and asked if she could look around. The guy said sure. She came across a pair of stained glass doors and asked how much...the guy said $10!!! So Mom bought them and brought them home. They sat in the garage for all these years, and when it came time for us to build, I definitely wanted to use them. One was really badly warped though. But we managed to salvage one and get the new door made. This is the door to DH's study.....obscured from view by co. if the room is a mess, yet lovely to look at. Thanks Mom! You done good!

OOOOOOHHHHHHHH! That peacock window is gorgeous. I can't wait to see the lamp shade. I bet it turns out gorgeous. I love to see the traditional stuff as much or more than the mosaics...and they are always gorgeous too.

Hi, I started with traditional stained glass but found it had to be more perfect to fit together, I hated putting the foil on, sometimes it would pull off, the lead was getting expensive, etc. Mosaics are more forgiving and there are so many other things to use along with the glass, this forum is so full of creative people there are new ideas every day. I think it's just more FUN to mosaic!

I do traditional stained glass also, but haven't done much since last year. I find mosaics so much easier.

Mosaics are a great way to use your scraps..

I started with mosaics thinking I would graduate to Stained glass panels but I like the mosaics so much more.
Someday, I'll get the lead out !
