Sign for my bedroom

Painted this for my bedroom. I still need to put the hangers on it, but thought I'd post it real quick while I had a minute.

Anj, what a wonderful verse, and your painting of the words is just excellent! That is a wonderful sign, and such a wonderful sentiment to go to sleep and wake up to each day. You're such a romantic! ;o)

I've always wanted the "Always kiss me goodnight", and recently I saw one that just cracked me up--it said "We've been through allot together, and most of it was your fault" LOL

Thanks Luvs, I guess I am a romantic where DH is concerned. ha He's such a good guy. Been needing to spruce up my bedroom and it's slowly getting done. Just put up some shelves and new pictures in there. It was done in a kind of garden theme, but decided to go more manly for DH. Got a chocolate brown suedey comforter set so will go with browns, blacks and reds in there. The garden stuff will get moved to my back porch.

I like that sign saying. ha I'm gonna add it to my list. I love signs. ha My next two are "Laissez les bon temps roulez!" (Let the good times roll) for my dining room and I still want to do the "Unruly children will be cooked and eaten" for my kitchen. Mean mama. ha

Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?

Depends on your skill level. How are experienced are with demo, framing, drywall, spackling, trim work, etc? If you are getting a bank loan it may be against the loan agreements. Your building dept may not allow it as you wioll more than likely need permits and a C of O. As you mention electrical work would need an electrician. Realistically if you need to ask if this would be DIY'able it probably is really not a good idea to attempt.

@acmI am in your ballpark. I have a lot of bedding and switch it out regularly. I pick my bedroom and bathroom paint colors based on what I like and what works with the rest of the house, then I select bedding that works with the bedroom paint color. I do agree with getting your sofa before deciding color in a living room paint color - don't replace my sofa often and color choices are more limited. Same with some other choices - kitchen cabinets, flooring, counter tops. Those stay for a long time and I will paint again before replacing those.

Anj, I love your signs. Your lettering is perfect! Where do you find such great sayings? I'm going to try to paint more signs during the winter. Everyone loves them. I'll be packing up my computer tomorrow morning and then we are off for Florida. I'll be sure to post things as I paint them during the winter. I'm looking forward to getting lots done. We'll see. Thanks Gail, sorry I missed you before you left for your retreat. We'll look forward to hearing from you over the winter. I love signs so I just notice them and try to keep a mental note of ones I want to make. Living next door to Louisiana I've heard the French one my whole life. I saw the unruly children one in a Florida restaurant and it cracked me up. The Shakespeare one I saw at a craft mall, but it was too expensive for my budget so I thought I could just paint my own.

I tried to do my font trick to paint the words on these last two, but it didn't quite work on the black background so had to wing it. I'm surprised they turned out as straight and neat as they did. Of course, I notice that a few of them are a little fatter than they should be, but hopefully it's not too noticable. ha I would be more of a perfectionist with it if I was selling them, but it's ok for my own use. :D ~Anj
