My Halloween candy...

I haven't decorated my yard in Yearssss! but this year I became a Grandmother and want to make my yard fun for her... she is only 5 weeks old.... anyway I have had fun finding scrap wood to cut out and paint on.. if it any nailed down .. I'm painting it... wait I still can paint it if is nailed down... what am I waiting on.... lol...

excuse the empty flower pots... I haven't found the yellow mini mums yet....

I just love your candy corns. Did you cut them out yourself? Are they the 1/2 or 1/4 inch plywood? You did a great job on those happy faces. Your candy apple is very clever too. TFS. Luvs

Thanks Luvs... yes it is plywood... it was 1/4 inch.. just some scraps thats been lay around the side of the house... I usually cut it out myself but this time my son want to do soooo... I let him... he did great for his first time to use the saw... he cut to much on one of my candy corn but it just adds charm....

Punk. this is a delightful table. Great job stacking the plates to look like candy corn. Rolling the napkins and putting them the glasses to show the design was brilliant. Your buffet looks fantastic!! The 3 ghosts are really neat. Good idea having your DH make a shelf to replace the broken one. TJ sure looks excited for Halloween to arrive so she can go trick or treating with your DGD Rowena looks pleased as punch at all your decorating. I'm sure that's why she is laughing and winking so much. She never meant to cackle so loud that your shelf cracked. And I know she's really happy she wasn't put back in the shed. I've enjoyed your stories and suggestions. Rhizo, I agree with you -- it's like a plague of locusts hitting us -- with the SUV's lined up out front coming from who knows where! Sometimes the "kids" look old enough to vote! My regret is that there isn't a good prediction of necessary quantity. Some years we have a hundred or more and run out; other years we get so few that we're left with a bunch of candy that I don't want! Here's a story though that makes opening that door to the little ones worthwhile: One Halloweed the doorbell rang; I opened the door to a little one (about 2 years or so) who said nothing -- just stood and stared at me. His dad was standing back in the shadows, otherwise the little boy was all alone. I said, "Is it trick or treat? Is that why you're standing on my porch looking like that?" The little boy said nothing, but the father stepped forward with a smile and said "sometimes he gets it and sometimes he doesn't." I gave the little boy some candy and the father started asking about my decorations and how I made them. As we were talking, I could tell the little boy was anxious to get on to more trick or treating. Finally he stepped forward and waved his hand in a sort of solute and said, "Well, Merry Christmas!" and turned and marched on. I said "and Merry Christmas to you too!" His dad rolled his eyes as if to say "like I said, sometimes he gets it and sometimes he doesn't." When I closed the door, my husband said "did I hear you wish someone a Merry Christmas", as if I had completely lost my senses! We laugh about that sweet little boy and re-tell the story often.

There are some sick people in the world that prey on children. I wouldn't put it past this kind of stuff to happen. Perhaps not wide spread but just one child being hurt from tainted goodies is too many. Amiee never went door to door nor has my grandsons. They dress up and go to family and friends only. They also attend the local Halloween Parade sponsored by the Fireman where they receive a huge bag of treats. Than there's a Halloween party at the Church with lots of games and more treats. And we give them each ten dollars to help rot their teeth even more. Haha. Our Schools stopped the Halloween partys a long time ago. Against somes religious beliefs. I recommended a costume Autumn party but they were set against costumes. So no Party.

It does add charm, I thought it was supposed to be cut that way. Very darling decorations Missy. Love their cute little faces and the candy apple is genius! Thanks for sharing and glad you are back to decorating.....even if DGD is only 5 weeks old. Never too soon. ha ~Anj

Very cute!! I really liked the candy corn on the left as he looks like he is saying "so long!" & might run off! Love the candied apple so cute & different.

Guess what yall? a friend of mine took a pic of the candy corn... their are three different ones that I made... anyway she was showing her friends at work.... just to show them off... well one asked if I could make one,,, then another ask, then another ask.... now I have 75 candy corns to make this weekend... I told her NO more.... lol... off to go by plywood and paint..... busy weekend... Plus the game is on... I think I will have to miss it but I have faith in my team in winning....Go OU Sooners!!!!!

Great yard art! I love to decorate the yard, and mine is the only decorated yard on our road - stuffy neighbors!

But I never thought to use the candy corn the way you have...what a great idea! Thank you for sharing and get busy on those candies!
