Ok,my husband's daughters live far away with their mom in another state.

She has been with some guy who is like 20 years older then her (she's in her thirties,he is like 50).He moved into their house with them,and he doesnt work either.

Anyways,last time the girls (who are 18 soon) came to visit,they sincerely expressed their dislike of him. saying he drinks alot and is rude.

My husband has been keeping in touch with his girls through the grace that is Cingular,because since they both have cingular they get free mobil to mobil minutes.

Well,this alcoholic old man who is techniqally not even their stepdad because they are not married,has told the girls they cant call their dad (my husband) that much anymore because it uses the minutes.

IT DOES NOT!!! Anyone who has cingular it is free! I have talked to people who have cingular for hours and hours before and not used my minutes.

I think the guy is a jerk and this is his last ditch effort before they turn 18 to control them.By the way,he doesnt pay for the phones,the girls share the same bill as their mom and this guy though. One of the girls works and pays her own share.

The girls hate this guy so much that after they graduate,they have told us they are moving up here to be closer to my husband.

My husband is sad he cant talk to them as much now. Any advice?

We actually sent them phones,it may be a possibility to add them to our account but it might be difficult since they live so far away. At least they wont have to put up with this guy for much longer.

I have major deer problems and feel your pain. Some sort of permanent fence is your best option, but it can be time consuming and expensive. T-stakes and the mesh type deer fencing works and is pretty fast to set up. You'll want it to be 6ft high or the deer will hop right over it. The rolls of deer netting can be a bit expensive, but do it once and it's done. I've also got a lot of experience with deer repellents and they do work, some better than others. My favorite is Deer Stopper (has a STOP sign on the label with a deer running across it). It smells nice, not like the rotten egg repellents, and it's water resistant. It's also approved for organic use. The label indicates that if it has an hour to dry before it gets wet that it will last for a month. The rotten egg spray you need to respray every time you get a heavy rain. The problem with the sprays is that even if it keeps the deer from eating your veggies, they'll still walk right through your garden and stomp on everything. Before we installed permanent deer fencing we put up low tunnels and pulled the row covers down every night. That worked well. You can just cover your vegetables with row covers without the hoops, but the deer will walk over it and poke holes in it. Something else you may want to consider is portable fencing from Ken Cove. It's only 4ft tall, but you can electrify it. Pricier than t-stakes and netting, but very fast to install. We use it to keep chickens out of our vegetables.

earthworm, that's what my step-dad told me. granted, i don't know much about cars so he could be giving me the condensed version. when i had the wheels aligned, hibdon did tell me that one of the control arms had to be replaced. guess i forgot to mention that in my initial post. why do you say gm must service it? the dealer handles mitsubishis and daewoos. mine is the mid-range daewoo, which is now sold as a mitsubishi, correct? does that make mitsubishi part of gm? i don't keep up with who owns whom..... my mom, after talking to my step-dad, thinks this is due to my tendency to like curvy roads. i don't run them for fun (anymore) but i'm not afraid of taking a corner or curve faster than some people. something about the daewoo minimizes curves. i've noticed the curves feel a *whole* lot faster in my step-dad's little old camry than they did in the daewoo. so is the culprit my driving, or maybe just the design of the car? my mom pointed out that she's never had this particular problem, even on a car she drove for 100,000 miles (mine only has 56,000). but i drove much more recklessly much more often in my first car (hey, i was in high school), an '88 chevy cavalier, and never had any problems with the steering or alignment. sure, the cavalier ate starters for breakfast, but it endured potholes and fast driving on "fun" roads much better than the daewoo apparently has. guess i'll have to start taking the corners like a granny. *sigh*

Your GF needs to discipline her son, not only to preserve the peace with you, but for the little boy's own good. Children need to learn that there are limits and feel happier knowing where those limits are. Not having boundaries results in very unhappy children who grow up with the false belief that the world revolves around them. Teachers, employers and total strangers will quickly disabuse them of this notion, but it will not be a happy time. You have the right to have your belongings left alone, whether by your "stepson", your natural son or some stranger in off the street. Your GF may prefer you not punish her child, but you do have the right to sternly say, "You may not touch my things" and escort the child gently out of your personal space. Can you put a lock on your door? And while little children by nature do chatter and get "in your face", you have the right to ask them not to do that, again to teach them that others also have rights. "Mommy and I are talking right now. Please go and play with your (favourite toy) for a while." "Mommy and I are talking. Please don't interrupt." But do give him his own time with his mother and with you as well, to be fair. It might help to get a big timer and set it for, say, ten minutes and say, "This is Mommy and Me time. When it goes DING! it will be Stepson time." Get a timer you can see the numbers change on, or the dial moves, or something, so he can see it count down. Put it on the counter where he can see it. You can increase the time as he gets used to the idea. Be firm about enforcing the time, but also be honest in switching over when the timer goes off. This worked well with my daughter. You want to let your GF know that her failure to discipline her son (and by discipline I do not necessarily mean spank, or punish, but teach to behave and enforce the lessons if necessary) is not only making his future difficult but is also killing your relationship with her. She doesn't want to ultimately end up on the street the single mother of two infants (I hope).

Try a church or something. I'm jumping in late here, but I do feel for you. You're in a terrible situation, but rather than look back, let's look to the future and begin making good decisions now. I'm Catholic and we have the Archbishops Charity Drive each year to support the Archbishop's charities, many of which are shelters. We also, at our church, give food coupons to the local grocery stores for anyone who asks - something I didn't know much about until I became a Sunday School teacher. No questions asked, the gift certificates are given out to anyone who comes to the church office. Here, we have something affiliated w/ the church that runs the boys' school, which is Methodist. It's called "The Shepherd's Way" and it's for homeless families (all have small kids - and I know of very few small kids who are 'obedient' so don't take what the shelter said to heart.) They have several small individual houses, counseling for the parents and children, etc. Finally, can you confide in your OB? I'm sure he/she would have a few clues as to where you could go. Is there anyone in the family who is traveling and would let you house sit. It's a stretch to find someone who'd allow young kids in the house, but worth asking. Some people don't want to leave the house alone...neighbors of your mom's. Is your dad in the picture? An aunt, g-parent, anyone? I'm so sorry you have to deal w/ this, but make no mistake - you did do the right thing by leaving. You shouldn't have this on your plate w/ the pg'cy and all. But, your kids need you to stay strong. Could you take a babysitting position to earn some money and keep your kids there, too? Is your oldest in counseling? Keep disciplining him/them to the best of your ability. Say what you mean and mean what you say w/ kids. Call Dr. Phil or Oprah, email them, too - worth a shot for some advice or to get your story heard. I will pray for you. Dana

You might check through cingular and see about getting a pre-paid phone. I'm not sure if that would make the minutes remain free if you are keeping the service with cingular, but it's worth a shot. Also, if the girls can't sign up under the family plan with you and your husband because of the distance, they could probably just go get their own plan together. I'm not sure if that would work either, though because they are not yet 18.

Most phones have nationwide long distance now, so it doesn't matter where the person with the phone is at the moment.

I know,but he claims that the girls use up the general minutes talking to their dad. That just isnt the case though. Thanks for all advice posted,I'm going to look into trying to get them on our account.It shouldnt cost that much more.

ARe the girls twins -- are they both 18? The phone is important, but I am more concerned re the girls -- Can they posibly come live with you now ? Do you have room for them?

They will be 18 in March.Yes,they are twins. One of them is seriously talking about moving here,but wants to finish the school year there first.(both seinors)
My husband would be tickled pink if they actually do move here.My daughter would too,she misses them so much.
Their grandma also lives in this state and has said they could stay with her (only about 10 minutes from us) She lives in a house alone and would be greatful for the company.
We are working towards getting a house ourselves,but right now are in a two bedroom apartment.

You should really ask grandma to keep asking and asking them to come. 18yrs old is old enought that they do not need young mom. As long as they have transportation to school

This guy has trouble with a capital T all over him. Does DH have any court approved rights? Even if not, I would send X a registered letter that he is entitled to speak to girls once a week. I would also suggest DH send letter or call school, give them his contact info, and make certain they have it on file. Also tell girls that if things get impossible, they shoudl go to guidcance counselor. Also, tell shcool, that DH should be notified if the girls miss any days of school.
