Comments (24)Alright, I went outside with a tape measurer and got a lot larger of measurements than when I walked it off :) DH had told me 6*6, but my with between windows is 9.5, so that would give me about 8.5 width. I also have 16 feet before I get to a tree! I don't think he would be up for going 16 feet, but we have a sidewalk that ends about 12 feet from the house, so I think that would be a good place to at least go to. I NEED 5 (want) open lockers I REALLY want a separate bench with nothing above it and 1-3 slide out drawers underneath to hold cat and dog food, and possible other pet items. I would also like against the wall next to the house a kitchen/cleaning closet that also maybe wraps around the corner with the other side being a coat closet that could hold DH and MINE extra coats, shoes, and guests purses/coats. I should have a little over 5.5 feet on the wall next to the house door, so I could do 20" deep cabinets/closet and 3 feet wide(not counting the corner) which I think will be about the perfect depth and a great amount of space to hold house stuff. I would like to have my bench against the farthest wall from the house that would be 8.5 feet with 2 corner lockers next to it. The problem is I don't know if I did that, what the best way to put 3 more lockers in. Should they be lined up on the same wall?...See MoreNatural fiber Area Rug advice
Comments (9)I just was browsing my latest Home Decorators catalog and I saw a Faux Sisal that caught my eye. I would need to see it in person. I'm starting to think about adding a cat to the household and natural sisal is not an option, so faux may be for me. It says it is soft. I would think something like this would probably be available in the box stores. http://www.homedecorators.com/P/Cove_Area_Rug/880/ This post was edited by wendyb on Sat, Feb 1, 14 at 9:26...See MoreBest tile for a mudroom/laundry area
Comments (20)Today I actually looked at the vinyl luxury tiles that are grouted. Didn't think I would ever consider those but the more I learn about them, the more I think it may be the way to go. Wouldn't have to pull up my existing tile and it's very durable with a lifetime warranty. It mimics natural stone including slate, and it's warm on the feet. I'm actually looking at the Armstrong Alterna Reserve stone. It is expensive, but the cost will be offset by not having to pull up old tile. Does anyone have experience with this?...See MoreNeed help with our Entrance/Mudroom/Stairs Layout
Comments (13)Hi all sorry for the delay in my reply! Thank you all very much for your input, sure made me think lots! We decided on Option 1. Keeping the door swing the way it is to promote natural flow from entrance to mudroom with coats, will also have some hooks by the door. Will likely add a small bulkhead between the entrance and dining room to create a feel of separation. The door is blocked nicely from our prevailing west wind by the garage (if the plan were a map, it would be upside down - north is at the bottom). I've also had some mixed feelings about not having the mudroom joined to my pantry and kitchen on the same side of the house, the concern being distance with groceries. For anyone who was curious, this is the full plan, the driveway comes up around the left side where the yellow line is, so this is why we've opted to have the 'public' rooms on this side of the house and the 'private' bedroom side on the back. That, and the views to the top and left of the page are quite nice so we've tried to orient our living spaces to face them. Thank you all for your input....See Morelocaleater
