It looks like the email issue has been fixed however, any changes that were made (trade list updates, etc.) were not backed up. For instance, I did an 'overhaul' on my trade lists yesterday... everything was saved and it was reflected on my member page last night. This morning, it's back to how it was prior to GW having issues. Was nothing backed-up when they were working on the email problem?

My husband doesn't like the look and feel of St Augustine - too harsh. He prefers a turf grass type grass, which the shadow turf is - I know it's a zoysia, but it's very fine bladed. it looks and feels more similar to bermuda. I prefer it as well, just don't feel as strongly about it as he does. The shadow turf is supposed to be drought tolerant. I know it requires water to stay green, but my concern is that it doesn't die if not watered during a drought. i don't care if it browns during a drought, as long as it doesn't die. Those I know with zoysia say that has been true as well - it browns, but comes back to life with a rain. My experience with St Augustine (we have some in some places), if it's not watered, it's gone for good.

We are under a total outdoor ban. Of course there are about 14 possible exemptions so anybody who wants to water can pretty much just do it anyway. I first seeded my front and side yards. That took 2 weeks and it didn't get rained on. I had to irrigate the whole time. THEN, I seeded the backyard, approaching week 2 and it hasn't rained on this seeding either. The good news is that the seeds haven't been washed away by heavy rain! And the best part of all is it's coming in slowly but surely and even though the grasslings are small my back yard is greener than the dormant bermuda in neighbors yards. Unfortunately I stopped irrigating the front yard while I was focusing on the rear and that grass pretty much all died. Which I'm not too upset about because I wanted to kill it since the color was really bad.

Oh my, really soup weather here in Portland. Rained really hard yesterday and more forecast today after this drizzly morning. I went out and unclogged a downspout, put a tarp over some outdoor furniture, swept the branches and leaves from the bike lane in the street in front of my house. When the kids come downstairs I'll set them to building a fire. The next job is to make another big pot of soup. I'm thinking albondigas soup with lots of garlic and mint today. This is one of those soups that can be made with stuff that is usually hanging around the house. You need a little of this and a little of that, and the list is a bit flexible. (Base of the soup starts with stock, white wine, and water; a couple pounds of beef soup bones with the meat trimmed off and chopped up. That will cook for a couple hours, then all those solids will be strained out. Next will be aromatics - onions, garlic, carrots, celery - with some tomatoes and mint. The meatballs are a miss-mash of freezer finds - italian sausage, plain pork sausage, minced beef liver, uncooked rice, with garlic, onions, red pepper, and lots of mint. It will smell nice as it simmers. Add some uncooked rice 20 minute before serving. I wanted a redder color so I also added some beet juice.) What is everyone making, if it is a soup day for you?
