We just built a home and have a 4'x4' corner pantry (inside dimension on the back walls) The walls coming to the door are around 2' We used 20'' deep shelving (the Rubbermaid pantry kit from Lowes) on one of the 4' walls, the other wall we are planning to do the slide out wire drawers (once the DH gets around to installing those!) I put appliances that I don't have room for on the floor under the shelves. We have 9' ceilings and could use another shelf toward the top for other items that are not used frequently. I feel like it is an ok amount of space with only one set of shelves but once we get the baskets up that will open most of the bottom shelf so it will have a lot more room. I also have shelving for overflow and extra storage in the basement, but I guess it kind of depends on how much food you like to keep around! Here are some pictures but it is difficult to take them with the angle of the door.

A wide closet-style pantry would be a good option. But you need to do it right. A few random thoughts: * Consider other things to put in the pantry. I keep my stand mixer, blender, food processor and the like on the lower shelves. It's much easier to get them out of the pantry than it was to get them out of a base cabinet. * Don't forget the floor space. This area is good for things like cases of bottled water, beer, sodas, etc. Maybe even a rolling step stool. * For a shallow pantry, make the back shelves narrow and the side shelves deeper. That way you can get to the top of the shelves. FWIW, I keep lightweight stuff on the top shelves. It doesn't hurt so much when it falls on my head. Personally, I'd go with a regular door rather than a bifold door. A bifold does take up a lot of room when it's open. Just make sure you have plenty of counter top space for a landing zone on the latch side. You may want to get some grid paper and start sketching a few ideas. Whatever you do will be limited by the location of the window. Best of luck.

Maybe it is the way I have drawn it, but there is actually no issue with the door and cabinetry clearance as drawn. That said, I would still love swinging doors! And Cabinet guy said he will specify a super hard finish for the shelving paint. He buys the paint from a company here in GA who can duplicate the formula of any paint brand but it is formulated for the kind off sprayer booth he has and in different hides. It's as good or better than any factory finished paint I've ever seen. (Cabinet guy is an owner operator who took over his father's shop about eight years ago. He has one FT and one PT employee and they do one kitchen at a time, filling in waiting times with small projects like mine.) So I a, going to go with the painted finish and try not to let any future dings bother me. I guess that makes the darker paint a better option?

I like the exteriors that PPF did for you on your last thread better :( Is there a reason why those don't work? Your new plan is growing on me because it provides a better route to the master bedroom and the garage is not as prominent on the front. You could do a "hidden pantry" door so that the cabinets look like they make the turn between the ovens and the fridge. One thing I'd do for sure is widen the doorway to the master hallway to at least 42". 36" is pretty tight and since you'll have plenty of cabinetry, you wouldn't miss the 6". 48" would be even better. Now, because you're gaining room in your pantry, you could get a full depth fridge and recess it into the wall/pantry area. That will save you money and get you more fridge space. Definitely put a spare fridge and/or freezer in the pantry. I'm not sure how big your family is but we are putting in second dishwasher. Maybe that's something to consider in your kitchen if you have lots of kids and entertain frequently.
