Mold resistant silicone for under-mount sink?
Comments (13)babyboomer1001: 100% silicone is perfect caulk between a sink flange and the bottom of stone. Polyseamseal and other Latex caulks are not; they do not have the adhesive stickiness or flexibility of silicone. It's best if you can pull your sink, clean the sink flange and stone bottom, recaulk with silicone and reinstall the sink. If this isn't reasonably possible, use a stiff plastic shim or plastic laminate to gouge the caulk out, clean the gap with acetone, and recaulk with silicone. Ignoring a leaking sink flange can have catastrophic consequences if your top has been "rodded" or reinforced with steel. If the fabricator used the wrong rod and/or the wrong bedding the rod can rust and blow up your top. I've fixed about 8 of these so far and it runs around $1,000.00-$1,600.00....See MoreMold resistant silicone for under-mount sink?
Comments (2)There is also another GE Silicone II K/B Supreme that is "mold-free product protection helps keep the cured caulk mold- and mildew-free and looking clean for 10 years, with regular cleaning." Comments (8)Yuck! I would confirm with Blanco, but I believe there is no stainless steel sink that exactly matches that cut out. Perhaps either the Blanco One or the Blanco Performa have a bigger cutout then the low divide sink that you currently have. What is your countertop made of? Some can be cut on site. If neither of those works, you may need to go to another manufacturer. I think that one of the Kohler sinks (brookfield?) will fit the cut out-but you have to actually have Kohler send you the template so that you can see if it will fit the cut out. It's very annoying. (And installing a cast-iron sink after the fact is not going to be easy unless you're willing to go with a drop in) I have the Blanco silgranite sink in white and I don't ever get any marks like your pans are making. What kind of pans are they?...See MoreDW outlet and under-mount sink
Comments (6)I disagree with Joseph. A 30" cabinet is not 30" inside. A so-called 30" sink indeed need close to 30" to mount. It may not fit. Fortunately, Melody has a 27" sink, not a 30" one. It should fit no problem in her cabinet. If by "dishwasher outlet" you're talking about the receptacle for the dishwasher, as long as the plug will fit into it and you can reach it, it should be OK. If the plug itself is the disconnect, it's required to be visible to the guy working on the dishwasher, but a unplugged-plug is going to be pretty easy to see even if the receptacle itself isn't. The other thing to consider (since this was in the plumbing in addition to the electrical forum) is to make sure whatever disposal/tailpiece you're using will meet up with the drain line from the dishwasher....See Moreliseebird
