This headline of course is an attention-grabber: "Using Facebook could raise your risk of cancer." However it is true that our behavior can influence our health, and I am sure that people (esp the young 'uns) spending hours on the Internet is going to have long-term effects on their health. It is a giant experiment on them, since obviously this is not something we have data on. The rays from the computer are bad on the eyes and on the brain. There is sitting still. But esp the loss of contact. No way that having a million"friends" on Facebook has the same effect as friends in real life. Researchers have done studies and proven (as if common sense wouldn't indicate this) that interaction with people in the real world has a beneficial effect on our immune system. So no doubt in 20 years we will have the results of this giant experiment. Kinda like cell-phone use. The credible evidence (my judgement)is that there is cause for caution. I can imagine in 20 years, "Oh, gosh, we're sorry to tell you that of all you people using cell phones, some 20% are going to get a brain tumor." gee too late now. However, the Internet does provide us with an inexhaustable opportunity to educate ourselves. And to recieve support. Like anything else, it can be over done. I thought Sunsprite too because HMF days it had ruffled petals but I'm not sure. None of their pictures have exactly the same form. It was the only one of this kind that I saw and was next to the old garden roses, not with the other tea roses. It is smaller and more compact than the HT roses I have grown but others on here have much more experience with a much larger selection so you all say it is a HT, I trust your judgement. All the buds are single. It is a very pretty plant. I pulled off the bad leaves and it still has plenty of healthy ones. If I get a chance this weekend, I'm going to go back to the store and see if I can find out the name.

Those were my words, the 'facts' and 'hearsay'. The younger people reportedly were better at drilling down to more facts than the seniors. They story kindly said that experience did count for *something*, but I thought a seven-fold difference was remarkable. Aside from the odd 'lucky guess', I'd think that mining pertinent facts would be be vital in order to reach a logical prediction. (Even the 'illogical' factors would be weighed.) The site has all kinds of 'prediction contests' about all sorts of events. It seems like good brain exercise... different from crosswords and puzzles.

@Melissa Northern Italy zone 8 you're welcome. I should add, I rooted a 4' whip of Cardinal Hume and budded four buds of Baby Faurax on it back in 1994. All four succeeded and it was wonderful! Hume was one of the few really dark "purple" roses which suffered no chlorosis in the mid California desert. Baby Faurax would frequently be chartreuse with lavender to white flowers but not on that whip of Hume! Plus, as it was an import directly from Harkness, when I had it virus indexed, it tested clean. And, the one time I was sent a plant of Hulthemia, not one of the modern "blotchers" but Hulthemia itself, it was budded to a rooted stem of Silver Moon. Why not? Wichurana climber producing yards of growth a season, perfect stock! The Silver Moon lasted, the Hulthemia didn't, but neither did the seedling my friends had germinated from the seeds which "appeared" in their mail box. And, Bill Grant, one of the California Old Roses from long ago, had early Hortico Austin roses which threw suckers of BRIDE'S DREAM. Hortico swore they never used it as a root stock, but I saw his Austins with those trees of Bride's Dream growing from under them. You probably had it in your garden for years and either never saw symptoms or thought it was simply Rose Mosaic. PNRS is Prunus Necrotic Ring Spot Virus. Google reports: " Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV) causes rose mosaic virus disease, characterized by symptoms on rose leaves such as yellow or white lines, rings, mosaic patterns, and oak-leaf patterns. Other symptoms include leaf puckering, general yellowing, reduced flower production, and increased sensitivity to frost. Symptoms can vary depending on the rose cultivar, virus complex, and environmental conditions, but they are often more visible in the spring and can lead to decreased plant vigor." Those who test for viruses will specify what was found but all of us generally see the standard mosaic patterns and figure it's all RMV. From your experience, RRD is what you need to watch out for. The others are nothing in comparison.
