Don't know if anyone has seen this before, but it is so much fun! If you have a scanner, scan flowers face down and leave the lid open. There are so many things you can ad to the photo, just look around your stash. I think they would make awesome cards. If anyone tries it, I'd love to see other ideas on this. If you click on the pic it will take you to my album with a few more.

My GF did that about a yr ago & got some special photo transfer paper so that she ended up with the flowers on T-shirts. She's working right now or I'd call. I think she Had photo of GD & added live flowers on scanner & then it ends up with child having the flowers, it was so cute. Someone will know how it works. It is really neat tho!! Jan

Oh, how beautiful. Wouldn't those be beautiful under the large clear glass half marbles, or just a clear glass tiles? Never wanted a scanner b/f, but now I wish I had one.

I agree, this can be lots of fun and very rewarding. I have taught classes of this method of "preserving" our gardens but instead of printing the images on paper we printed them on fabric (this was a quilting class). The fabric for doing this is readily available at quilt shops and stores such as JoAnn's and it's cut in 8"x10" size, perfect for the home scanners most of us use. I had previously taught this group of quilters a color theory class so they put their new knowledge to the test on their floral scans with great success. Hello fellow MNFers! Spring has definitely sprung to summer today in NYC. People are in shorts & sandals with 81'F & sunshine! Begonias are out. Marigolds out. Peonies in all colors out. My jasmine bloomed its first bloom this morning - like heaven. Glad to see there were a lot of surprises in the boxes. I also thought my box would be obvious, but I guess that's what makes the world interesting, is that we all live in different gardens around the world. Beth I'm sorry I had to cut a lot of the foxgloves down to fit in the box. They weren't so big when I was planning the box, but they grew gigantuan in the weeks of steady rain we've had & I couldn't find a bigger box to send. Opinion needed on quilting block

Thanks for all your suggestions. I noticed that the block was a bit mashed after I posted it. I gathered it a few months ago & it got sqwished in storage. I'll have to play aruond with the other ones & gather/pleat the inner petals & see how they look. My quilter said she'd do the flower quilting in the spacer blocks, but she doesn't do straight lines or in the ditch, so I'll be doing that. But with that done, most of my basting will be done by her. Yay! So, in theory, I could add some puffies under those petals. By then...I should have the quilting accessories necessary for my machine. Sueellen...the brown carpet doesn't do much for me either. :) And I have to look at it every day!

This disease has spread and progressed to many of the oldest leaves on my tree. Asian pears seem unaffected. Here are two additional leaves, plucked this morning. I've been following an organic spray schedule, but I wonder if the disease pressure in my area (Raleigh, NC) is too high to rely on sulfur for control. If this is a fungus that can be treated, I'd consider spraying with immunox, as it comes highly recommended on this forum. However, I looked at the label and I don't see approval for use on pears. Only flowering pears are listed on the label. Is immunox actually approved for use or do I need to use something else?

OK, just got GF on phone & there is lot you can do with this. June Tailor.com is where you can find the June TailorComputer Printer Fabric . It come in a 10 pkg. for $10.99 but if you get 50% coupon it is reasonable. This 1 takes high heat to set the pic. so you might try her Colorfast Inkjet fabric sheets you also press to set ink but this 1 is washable 10 sheets for $25 so use a coupon. Some of this is usable with fusable web & some is sew on. The 3rd 1 is by people that make labels Avery, they make sheet protectors, dividers for school kids etc. With Avery you get 24 iron on t shirt transfers. So you can go to their website too. I remember GF had a book on this & there were fresh flowers with a little doily & pearl necklace nicely displayed & that was going to be used for Anniversary announcement. Victorian paper girl from magazine with fresh flowers, just great stuff!! Hope this helps!! Can put on pillows,quilt piece etc. It's why I wanted the scanner to begin with, I forgot. Now I'll have to try some. Have fun! Jan

I forgot to tell you that Joann's Crafts has the June Tailor fabric sheets. Don't know if Michael's does or not but would think so. Only 2 craft shops in area so she must have gotten them there. Jan

Talked to GF & Sam's Club has 24 sheets of transfer paper for $14.99 they are 8x11 sheets so that is good size & price is down to 63cents each. It is with the office supplies. It is called T-shirt transfer paper but can be used on any cotton or poly/cotton that is light colored. So Hope this is more helpful! Jan

SQUIRELLY: I came back to look at this thread. Somehow I missed your statement of clicking on the image to see your album. Now I remember all your wonderful mosaics, and enjoyed looking at them again. I sooooooooo love your work. You don't post many mosaics lately. Are you still mosaicing?

Glad Slow went to your albums & mentioned it or I would have missed a real treat!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! The bird in the gold frame, the beautiful color combinations, the dragonflies, butterflies & birdbath, then the hubcabs. Who knew!!! And on the car no less!! Amazing talent!! Thanks !! Jan

Thanks guys!! Slow, yeah I still mosaic just not as much as I'd like in the summer. I work full time and after work and weekends I work as a gardener on a private estate. We live in a cottage on the property. I actually look forward to rainy days....how sad is that! I lurk here in summer but don't usually have much time for posting. I've got a bunch of ideas and projects waiting for me and I'll post them, I love to share with all the wonderful people here!
