showers, are they a battle in your house too?

I am in a bit of a pickle .... with my SC.

They refuse to shower "here" they take one at mom's so their excuse for here is "I just took one yesterday" ... its a long drawn out battle each time ... SD9 is usually the easiest to get in the shower(1/2 hour) ... the SS10 will go but after many many reasons why he should wait to take one(45 mins) ... the SS12 forget its a battle a good hour to "convince" him he needs to shower.

Hubby says they have to take one on sunday and tuesday ... because they are at mom's on wed fri and sat... so he lets mondays and thursdays go they don't need to shower daily they are afterall just kids and its not like summer time when we have been at the beach all day or they have been outdoors playing all day. I am on board with that one. So the two days a week he wants them to shower its a battle.

The battle starts right after dinner he tells them all they have to take showers and the crying whining starts I just took one yesterday, why do I have to shower, ... and many many more.

My pickle is ... I sit here and cringe over the whining about showering. My son just sits shaking his head because "you're arguing about taking care of your body?"

I told hubby on tuesday night ... that it baffles me that they do this its not like you are asking them to take out their eyes and wash them. When I told my kids to shower yes they hummed and they hawed but they did it. We had a routine ... we ate dinner, watched wheel, and then they showered. And it had to be done by bedtime. I said you need to make them shower every day they are here until they get in the habit something ... no giving breaks. We need to come up with something because I feel like I want to shutdown and run and hide in my room on sundays and tuesdays because I know the fighting is going to start any minute.

My son showers every night at around 10:30 yes he has adjusted his shower schedule around tv shows he wants to watch but he has to be showered by 11PM. When mine were younger I didn't make them shower daily but atleast 3 times a week ... sunday tues thurs was my routine.

So last night talking to hubby I said .... I want to not make dinner ahead of time on thursday he said why not? I said I want to tell the kids ... you just ate yesterday why do you need to eat today... and not make them do homework ... you just did homework yesterday! and not let them play electronic games you just played yesterday.... etc... go down the list .... He said "good idea" but lets do it sunday night.

So my questions are .... Do your children shower daily? do they argue about it? how do you fix it? Whats your routine?

If we never told them to shower they would be fine with it. I know eventually they will just take them on their own. I just can't stand the fighting, arguing, whining, etc. over showers I find it ridiculous...

I know its a minor issue ... but its atleast a 2 hour battle every sunday and tuesday night. I do not say anything about showers its all on their dad to argue with them about it ... learned my lesson long ago not a battle I want to get into with kids.
