Look how far we have come...

I just had to share this little tidbit with all my fellow SM out there. A small step family victory...

Since Sunday my step son has been complaining of stomach pains. Went to the emergency room and was sent home after a couple of hours. We took him again tonight after they had gotten worse.

So BD and I show up. BM and her bf show up along with both BMs parents who do alot of caregiving for SS. We were all there for HOURS! Finally when we were told it was a non emergency grandmother started packing up her stuff to go home. I knew my hubby would not leave until SS left so I was going to have to sit in waiting room for a few more hours while docs worked on SS and it was starting to get late. SS's grandma overheard us talking and offered to take me home...

I had a really nice conversation with grandma on the way home. And we live slightly out of the way from the hospital to their home! My hubby and his ex had a pretty bitter divorce and custody battle and her parents were highly involved in making it an even more bitter process. I've always been hopeful that we would be able to have a decent relationship with them but I didn't think there was much of a chance. If anyone would have told me that one day I would be getting a ride home from hubby's XMIL I would have thought, well heck I don't know what I would have thought cause it was just unthinkable!

Anyway so I just got home and am in a "wow, did that really just happen?" mood. Anyone know the feeling? I feel hopeful that these two families have moved past their anger and bitterness and we can finally get down to what is really important here which is raising this little boy who we all love so dearly.

Anyway I just wanted to share cause I thought it might give some of you hope and some of you might be able to relate to my feeling of accomplishment right now.
