I had a hard time deciding too. I took a hard look at how I use my sink (currently a double). We have a garden and belong to a CSA, so I soak a lot of veges on the right side while cleanup is on the left. I also like to wash on the left and drain the clean items on the right. I wanted to be able to lay cookie sheets and long pans flat too. I found a sink that satisfied both needs. I'm getting the Franke PRX120. I love this particular sink because it only needs a 39" base cabinet, whereas similarly sized sinks require a 42" base cabinet. Plus it has an integral shelf (optional) that you can rest a grid on that raises up the bottom so you don't have to reach in as far when you don't need to. I can lay flat my biggest cookie sheets and baking pans. It is stainless steel. In the end though go with what you like best, most people have definite preferences one way or the other. Do you know someone with a single bowl that you can try out the way that you'd be using it?

Wow! Thanks for the update. I was wondering. So the addition is really hap-pen-ing....I'm so excited for you!!! Ainelane asked me about the ledge. I use the basket like a drying rack for my knives, favorite coffee mug, etc... Oh and my wine glasses. :-) I use it for rinsing veggies too. Some people prefer to leave the basket out. Still plenty room for washing big pots and pans, so rarely do I need to remove it. It is nice to have that option though.

The faucet and dispenser holes are filled with scraps from the cut-out. This is a job I did last week; removing a failed polyester bowl from a polyester solid surface top and replacing it with a stainless steel sink. No countertops were removed in the process. It isn't that much different with stone, the trick is making sure the footprint of the replacement is identical to or larger than that of the original. I've had budget-conscious clients that didn't care that the negative reveals were off on their replacement sinks in stone. Sink, faucet, soap dispenser, and disposal replacement, plumbing, top refinish and cleanup (ooo..it's messy) just over 3K. That's a Mirabelle sink made in Vietnam. Nice.

So many happy Kraus sink owners on this forum. Rachielle and Julien sinks cost several thousands. Like any luxury item, that’s great if you have the funds. There is lots of fear-mongering by people who don’t want to believe that a good sink can be had for about $400 or so. But it can. Look at reviews everywhere. I also trust the large numbers of people reporting on this forum that they like their Kraus sinks. “anything less than the most pure metal available for sink construction can lead to premature rusting if it is stainless steel” That is one of those myths that circulate. Stainless steel does not rust. If there is rust in your stainless steel sink, it is because of several reasons. It could be someone used a Brillo pad (should not be used on a sink) which leaves tiny particles behind which rust. Or they left a metal utensil in the sink which rusted. Or, most commonly, your local water has iron it which leaves rust spots when it dries. All can be removed easily with Barkeepers Friend. Regarding a warranty - as Dormelles mentioned, a problem you see in a sink after it’s installed is going to be trouble with or without a warranty. That is why it’s super important to examine your sink prior to install to see if there are cracks or other issues. Also it’s important to buy it from a reputable seller, not some online place that has sinks super cheap cause they’re seconds but the website doesn’t say that. A stainless steel sink is a pretty straightforward item. P.S. Keep in mind that all stainless steel sinks scratch, whether they cost $300 or $3000. I wouldn’t want you to buy a sink, see scratches after using it, and think it’s defective. The scratches all blend together after a couple months, and you won’t notice them, I promise.
