Good Morning and APRIL FOOLS DAY TODAY!!! Soups I like to make: Yellow Split Pea & Lentil or Carrot, Onion & Zucchini Basically I take the largest cooking pot I have and the heaviest...for the pea/lentil soup, throw in about a cup of split peas, 1/2 cup lentils, chopped up onion, bay leaf and gently simmer for half an hour, add more water if needed and as many chicken broths cubes as I fancy. Let sit for an hour, boil again for another half hour, let sit and do this on and off a few times and then let it sit to cool - the sitting inbetween lets the peas swell and soften more. I figure for WW about 3.5 for a large bowl. My other soup is fast, easy and 0 WW points. I mince an onion, shred the zucchini and carrot, throw in a pot, throw in water and a couple of chicken broth cubes and simmer gently for 20 minutes. You can add milk to this just before serving but then you have to adjust the point value. I prefer not to and just enjoy the flavours. I also enjoy adding 1 point by adding a teaspoon of low fat margarine to my bowl (great flavour boost). Those are my favourite home made soups. I do the pea soup on the weekends and alternate what soup I make so I don't get board. I loved stewed tomato but usually use them to make lowfat pasta sauces by mashing and gently simmering with onion, spices and throw in a beef cube and pour on my pasta followed by a LIGHT sprinkle of parmesean cheese (low fat if I can find it). I hope everyone is going to have a fabulous day today! Alice, really, really happy to see you posting and getting on so well with all of this. Its really not bad at all...if you enjoy cooking then it's like exploring your cooking/foods all over again and an opportunity to get creative. I too love steamed veggies and I agree that they really punch the flavour up! Cheers! Let's make today count! McPeg

Thanks, Lee! I've been very happy with my almost immediate recovery, as I was expecting something much worse. Since I have no pain, I tend to forget that I just got the implant, and so I have to remind myself to be careful. I had a sandwich for lunch, and I hope bread crumbs didn't get stuck back there. I rinsed out my mouth very well. I make bean burritos frequently and always have the ingredients to make my bean dip recipe. I used up the last of the tahini making the hummus (which I expect to go fast), and so I'll have to remember to pick some up at the next Arab or Lebanese market I go to. We need more lavash, but I can get that anywhere. The tahini is much cheaper at the Lebanese market. Annie, Kevin and I both have mouth guards to wear at night, and I never ground my teeth until fairly recently. I do notice myself doing it when I'm working intensely on a furniture model. I'll make a note not to make popcorn, but that gets stuck in my teeth even when they are normal! I might make some Avgolemono soup with Greek meatballs - I have frozen ground turkey I could defrost, but I need to use up the poached chicken meat first, I think. Of course I could freeze that and defrost the other. Lars

I know this is a older forum but i thought i would post ideas for others looking for this too. My husband is having this test this week & i was searching for things for him because he has had a hard time with this 3 days liquid diet.. (Be sure to ask your dr if you have questions about any of these before you try it) and i have more for the 1st day liquid diet and a list of light foods to use at the first of the prep. The prep is so much worse than The test it's self. Good luck to all :) Clear Liquid Drink Recipes NO RED OR PURPLE COLORED ITEMS & no milk based or fiber items either... High Protein Fruit Drink 8 oz commercial clear liquid nutritional drink 1/2 cup sorbet (no seeds in this!) 6 ounces ginger ale Mix all ingredients and blend until smooth Fruit Fizz 1 cup clear fruit juice from your clear liquid list (ie. apple juice/white grape juice. 1/2 cup sparkling water 1/2 cup ice Blend ice and juice until slushy. Pour in glass and add sparkling water Frozen Fruit Slush 1-6 oz can of frozen clear juice concentrate 4 tbsp sugar (if u want it) 3 cups crushed ice Mix all ingredients and blend until smooth Lemon Lime Slushie Juice from two limes Juice from one lemon 1 cup sparkling water 1 cup ice 4 tsp. sugar or to taste Blend ice and juice until slushy. Pour in glass and add sparkling water Home-made ice pops can also be made using fruit juice, a sports drink or other favorite clear liquids. Remember: no red or purple liquids. And if your looking for a hot "meal" other than beef or chicken broth, you can drink the jello while warm (i know i know, but its diffrent. My mom called it jello soup :). ) also use chicken broth, and root veggeis, boil for 20mins, season to taste then strain it, you will have a good clear broth. Japanese or Chinese soups are really good, you can get them ready to go as take out too. And you can use the meal replacement shakes on the first day "liquid diet" (not clear liquid part) to make some great meals..

Here's one that I've made and liked. The orange juice adds something to it! Asian Fried Rice (Bonnie Stern) This is best made with day old rice so next time you are cooking rice for dinner - make lots to have lots leftover. Types of rice to use for this are basmati, jasmine or fragrant rice. Makes 4 servings 4 eggs ½ tsp salt ¼ tsp pepper 2 Tbsp rice vinegar 2 Tbsp orange juice 2 Tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp Asian sesame oil 1 Tbsp vegetable oil 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 1 small onion 1 Tbsp chopped fresh ginger root 1 sweet red pepper, diced 1 cup frozen peas 6 cups cold cooked rice 3 green onions, thinly sliced on the diagonal ¼ cup chopped fresh coriander or basil In a small mixing bowl, beat eggs with salt and pepper. Reserve. For the sauce, in another bowl or measuring cup combine rice vinegar with orange juice, soy sauce and sesame oil. Reserve. Heat oil in a wok or large non-stick skillet. Add garlic, onions and ginger. Cook, stirring constantly, a minute or two until onion is tender and lightly browned. Add red pepper and cook 2 minutes longer. Add peas and rice, breaking rice up with a wooden spoon. Stir sauce into rice and combine well. Make a hole in the rice in the centre, all the way down to the pan. Add eggs allowing some to set on the bottom so that some of the eggs scramble and some of the eggs coat the rice. Combine everything. Stir in green onions and coriander, and cook a minute longer.
