Old fashioned good quality or Up to date lesser quality?
Comments (29)As hubby, tongue-in-cheek, likes to say about me, "there's nothing too good or too cheap for her". It really depends on the WHAT! Before we spend on a product, service or an experience, we like to consider what will we gain by making the spending decision. We like to be well-informed consumers (especially when something is a large amount of money) and will choose from both categories - old and new. I wonder if this is a right-brain / left-brain question ;?) I'm more of a logical thinker than emotional, so that accounts for many of my choices. I couldn't care less if someone sees me in a $2 (on sale) white T-shirt from Wal-Mart worn for working out (I even have some I bought for $1 at Wal-Mart). A $300 work-out outfit doesn't make me sweat any less or perform any better. While I'll spend a LOT for SmartWool athletic socks which feel better and out-wear cheap cotton socks any day, and I buy quality shoes for working out, and for everyday use. We had a lovely antique bedroom suite, but we got tired of the upkeep, drawers that stick, and the size of it, so we donated it to a Hospice auction. Comments (48)@Wes Hunt I believe Shiloh does an industry-standard post-catalyzed conversion varnish, so hopefully the finish will be more durable for you than Kemp would have been. As I'm sure you're aware, there are several different levels of pricing within the lines offered by W. W. Wood Products, Inc., Shiloh's parent company. Shiloh for some reason hasn't amassed many reviews around the web at the time of this writing outside of those on Houzz, but there are several threads here at Houzz that do discuss Shiloh's offerings and warranty fulfillment in depth. One of the things I've noticed is that people who went with the less expensive lines wished they had upgraded to the top Shiloh offering, and for people who did receive defective pieces, it was sometimes an issue getting satisfactory warranty service. If you are working with a reputable sales rep, hopefully they would take care of any issues you had promptly. Plenty of people have been very pleased with their Shiloh cabinetry. The tolerances on Shiloh's inset styles aren't as tight as you'd see from more expensive brands like Christopher Peacock or Kennebec according to some reviewers familiar with a wide range of brands, but for many people who want to save and yet still want that inset look, Shiloh does just fine for them. Comments (17)I’m trying to change the way I write my sentence while googling, to get different results, and finally I got a window of links with a good result. https://www.flooringinc.com/blog/best-flooring-for-wheelchairs-ada-compliant-floor-options/ But the problem still exists when we handicapped people are buying a new house, because who install commercial grade LVP on their residence if they are not handicapped? We don’t have any other option than to buy to remodel, because most houses on my budget at least, won’t have ceramic tile or hardwood floors throughout the house. So, the lesson here is, we handicapped must be aware that most houses for sale aren’t suitable for us if they don’t have the right floors, tile, or hardwood. Because our chances of finding a house with commercial LVP’s are very low. A well lit space will also help reduce fall risks as you age. 2 four inch recessed lights = hot pink dots One to illuminate entry into shower and laundry area One to illuminate general toilet and sink area Think of these as two separate spaces, each represented as an imaginary square, Center each 4" recess within that square - see dotted lines. This will both provide the correct amout of illumination in the right areas and look balanced in the space @Diana Bier 's quite ceiling fan has a light in it for the shower = yellow square 2 Individual sconces placed above sink area - blue stars You already have a ton of visual info going on in this sink area. A bar with connected lights is too much of a look. Get individual sconces and place them in this sink area. Sconce selection Your ceilings are a little over 8 ft. Not very high. (Ask how I know!) To determine what sconces will fit above your to your sink you need to know how much space you have between the ceiling and shelves/medicine cabinet. It is going to be a bit of a crunch. Especially if you have a 36" high cabinet - which you absolutely should for aging in place. But we can find something for you. Am I remembering correctly that you will have recessed shelves or a recessed medicine cabinet over the sink? If not, you should. Then you don't have to worry about a shadow from the scones, and you will be able to see much better. Before you select sconces, you need to know the height of your sink, faucet, and shelves/mirror/cabinet. Your shelves/mirror/ cabinet needs to clear your faucet height if it opens out. The height of the top of your shelves/mirror/ cabinet will determine the space you have above for sconces and what size they can be....See More- 21 years ago
