My newbie status of thes pages is your gain. I got curious about this after you posted it and didnt even know it was an option. First click on the top of the banner and goto the home page. At the bottom of that page in some small print, you will see where there is a link called memeber pages. about half way down the options on that page you will see: "Edit Your Exchange Lists" Click that link and you are able to edit all of your exchange information so that Others can see what your after and hwat you have. Also, on th home page right before member pages there is another one called exchanges and trades, that opens up a forum especially for posting and searching for trades.

If you have a ADA exchange booklet, you just have to convert how many starches is in the amt. of flour in the recipe, how many fruits would the sugar count for, and on down the recipe with each ingredient. Then add all the starches, all the fruits, all the fats in the recipe and get the total number of each exchange category in the recipe, then divide each exchange category by the number of servings your recipe makes. For example: If your cake recipe had 14 starches in the whole recipe and serves 8, then you would divide 14 by 8 and that would be how many starches a serving of that recipe would have. Then you would divide your fruits by eight and your fats by eight to derive the number of these exchanges in one serving of your recipe. The American Diabetes Assoc. has many booklets on exchanges and the Food Exchange booklet is only about 4 bucks. Hope this helps.

Contact the American Diabetes Assoc. They have a free catalog they will send to anyone, it contains great cookbooks and exchange list booklets that are relatively inexpensive. One series is called "A Month of Meals" with 5 different cookbooks. Mine is "Month of Meals-Classic Cooking", but they also have "Meals on the Go", "Old-Time Favorites" and many others. My sister's mother-in-law battled for years to keep her sugar under control "on her own". Then her doctor recommended she get some of these cookbooks and her sugar was 120 the first time he tested her after she began using them.
