I'm so upset, I shouldn't use scented anything!

After seeing a doc yesterday for my yearly GYN thing, I was told because of recurring BV, I no longer can use scented soaps or shower gels & if I do, I can only use it from the thighs down!

I have to use unscented and/or sensitive skin soaps & the doc recommended Ivory or Dove.

If I take a bath I can't use any salts or bubbles.

I'm even supposed to wear only cotton panties, wash such in fragrance & dye-free detergents, & wear loose-fitting slacks/shorts.

This is a bummer because I love my scented & moisturizing stuff!

I can't use fabric softeners of any sort on my undergarments!

What is BV? I can't for the life of me (at this time) figure out what that is. I used to be plaqued by yeast infections. Seems like I always had one. Finally, one doctor I went to told me not to douche; said my chemical balance wasn't right and douching was causing the constant infections. I quite douching and the infections stopped. I haven't douched in over 20 years and have never had another yeast infection. My son, on the other hand, is very sensitive to detergents and chemicals. They just tear his skin up- especially soap. We spent a fortune on special soaps, etc. I finally decided to make my own and selected SFIC bases. He has no problem at all with them. I even have to make his shaving cream from their base. Fragrance doesn't bother his skin- thank goodness, because he loves fragrance! It is such a shame that you will have to avoid fragrance. I am like you- love my scented stuff, especially bath products!

NEVER EVER give a chicken Avocado! Avocados are poisonous to birds all birds. I know this thread is really old but someone will read this. I can't help but wonder why someone would find exploding chickens funny, maybe she shouldn't have animals then! Anything that would cause my wonderful hens pain I find very disturbing. I have a few that are going on 8 years old, they still lay, maybe not all the time but they have a little cycle, they are girls after all! If they stop altogether, they still have a forever home! My hens eat peas mixed with some plain yogurt and scrambled eggs (scrambled in a little olive oil) and diced blueberries and strawberries they love this treat. Its good for them and helps them lay nice strong eggs. I only use a tiny bit of olive oil and this helps keep them clear, a bit of organic apple cider vinegar in their water keeps them from getting sour crop, just a couple times a week. No way would I give them anything that is questionable, too acidic like lemons, or strong like onion. They free range during the day and are in their coop at night, safe and sound..... and they are very funny and sociable. If I am unsure, I don't risk it. They get good lay mash, crumbles and scratch too. always fresh water (on a drip) Chickens need to drink A LOT, more than they need to eat so make sure their water is fresh and clean ;) If you are going to keep birds, don't laugh at them being hurt, that is just not right.

I would think that plant diseases are very different from human diseases (we're in completely different kingdoms!), so it would be very unlikely that, say, TMV would infect a human. I think if there was anything very dangerous you could get from garden vegetables, we would be hearing about it. The media gets us all scared about so many things, I'd be surprised if they didn't spread the alarm all around about something like this. The main thing I'm scared of are parasites, but then again I've been watching that show Monsters Inside Me on Animal Planet that got the idea in my head. There's some sort of a bad parasite you can get from snails, and I sometimes harvest greens and herbs that I find snails in. I think I've caught all of them so far before they got eaten, but sometimes there are really tiny baby snails that could be overlooked. But with all the food recalls, finding E. coli and salmonella in such innocent-seeming things like canteloupe and spinach, we're probably actually safer eating stuff we grow ourselves.

Good suggestions above. Also, large institutions may have more than one "Lost and Found" (e.g., one on the wing or floor, and another in a central office area or security office). It seems to me that someone who mentioned that she was turning it in (although she could have just slipped it into a pocket without saying anything) was being honest. Another possibility is that the person who found the camera didn't have time to bring it to the L&F as she was going home. If that person is a frequent visitor, she may return another day and bring the camera with her. So there's still hope. Would the hospital permit you to post a sign in the rest room where you lost the camera? I sure hope you find it! But, if not, at least you'll have the memories. After the bath, a couple shriveled, clearly not liking it. But it's definitely satisfying to see white dots floating in the water. I left them out to dry and started to pick more stubborn bugs from some of my plants. Most of them were motionless, so I assumed the soap bath did the trick. So I left the rest alone. Nuked all the soil of new pots with boiling water, followed by a 4 minute cook off in the microwave. I set them off to dry for a few days, and I tried to pot them up last night. And guess what? The mealies SURVIVE!! Except for those that I had picked on, the rest still had tiny bugs crawling in them. You can call them eggs, larvae whatever, I got fed up. Took out my tub of rubbing Alcohol dunk half a containerful with more dish soap, and yanked everything into the concoction. Rinsed them into another tub of water, and set them off to dry again. This time I inspected every single one. Miraculously, no white stuff or survivors. I'm guessing it worked. The poor remaining plantlets all don't look good. I guess only time will tell if these all can be saved. Will continue to update... Oh, and I also found infestations on my new jades too, thankfully I caught the spread and am now containing it, or at least am trying to..

No douching (or douche with diluted yogurt a few times, making sure to use the stuff with live lactobacillus to restore the usual flora ... they can boot the bad guys out if you give them a chance, and it's been a long-recommended low-cost remedy in many Gyn clinics).

Definitely wear cotton or cotton-crotched underwear, no pantyhose (or only occasional pantyhose). Loose flowing clothing as much as possible, and change undies frequently. The goal is to keep the area dry and avoid annoying the skin and membranes. Bacterial infection usually don't have a chance unless you mess up the balance and give them inflamed skin to invade.

Shower, not bath, and keep lotions away from the affected area. After a few months of non-scented stuff, if all is going well, try ONE scented soap and see what happens.
